A mate has win 98 with Outlook express. When the fire up Outlook it goes to send a message but locks up.......can you stop Outlook automatically sending and receiving when you start it up?

Open up OE. Go to Tools Menu, then Options. Under the General Tab, uncheck "send/receive messages at startup".
