| Spam of the week:
"Attention! In our global system of monitoring there was a technical failure.
In avoidance of frauds with your credit card enter the full data for authorization, otherwise your credit card will be frozen during 10 day."
(Lovely grasp of English there)
It then presents a form that asks you to key in:

Credit Card Billing Address:
City:
State/Province:
Province if not US/Canada:

It references a site called authorizenet.com , which seems to be a genuine site.
At authorizenet.com, they have this warning:
"X-Box Scam
Authorize.Net is aware of an email campaign informing the recipient that they have won a Microsoft X-Box in a promotional competition. The email directs the recipient to a Web site that requires them to enter their debit card information. Authorize.Net believes that the purported drawing for a free X-Box is an Internet scam designed to steal debit card numbers with their associated PINs. SUCH EMAIL AND WEB SITE ARE IN NO WAY ASSOCIATED WITH AUTHORIZE.NET AND AUTHORIZE.NET DOES NOT COLLECT, PROCESS OR OTHERWISE RECEIVE ANY INFORMATION THAT IS SUBMITTED VIA SUCH WEB SITE. Authorize.Net recommends that confidential information should not be provided to any business, organization or person you do not know or did not contact first. Wow. I hope my credit card isn't "frozen during 10 day."

| Opps I am in trouble. Time to cancel my credit cards. Then again maybe I can blame all my internet porn site debt on them, and maybe get me out of the FBI's "special folder" | |

By any chance did that message come to you as an embedded GIF file? I received a similar message and when I went to copy the body of the message, so I could complain to my ISP, that is when I noticed it was a GIF with the link embedded in it. I don't have an account with eBay either. | |

I used to get them all the time from PayPal. It's HTML email. So I do longer accept HTML email. Only plain text. |
