Author Compresssing files multiple times....

Why the heck do people do that? I just opened a file that was compressed with 8 different compression formats. I was starting to think it was some sick joke that was never going to end. I wish people would relize that compressing a file that is already compressed doesn't make it smaller and usally ends up making a little bigger.

compress it 8 more times and send it back to them with a new name.....say it's something you think they might enjoy just as much as you did

ZIP -> RAR -> GZIP -> ARJ -> JAR = Loss of 1K.

I think the mentality is that if something is good, than more of it is better. Either that or they did not believe that the first compression “took” so they do it over and over to ensure that it was good. Funny how people are.

Office 2000 premium:

ZIP disc 1, ZIP disc 2, doesn't fit on CD

ZIP disc 1 & 2 does.

ZIP disc1, ZIP disc 2, ZIP ZIP works out even bigger

I think I have more compression/decompression programs than any other kind on the computer.
