You should come over to Birmingham in February and I'll introduce you to My. Bankss Mild, Mr. Marstons Pedigree and Mr. Guiness.

Mind you, you'll be farting like a trooper after that, especially after the obligatory Indian and Kebab.

Happy birthday, nice to see plenty of friendly advice on the beer front. I think that modern trendy stuff is like dishwater. You want to try some of the more traditional brews, like guinness, nice drink (no hurry) works wonders for the digestive system too. Some of the german stuff is good too, like Lowenbrau.

Thanks!

I feel sorry for all those people though. I had no power (again) from approx 1 hour when I decided to get a battery radio and heard this.

It's nothing usual for the Staten Island Ferry to hit the pier while docking. It happens all the time so I can just imagine how hard and fast this ferry must have been going when it hit. The strange part is the side that hit is the hit I usually get off on.

Thank you.

You know things are bad when the ferry Capt jumps ship and try’s to kill himself.

I have to figure out tomorrow's route to work with Staten Island cut off from Manhattan for the evening [and maybe tomorrow?]

The NYPD and USCG are investigating. They even called in the PAPD. TBTA police closed the lower level of the Verrazano for emergency vehicles. Its sad Staten Island only makes the papers/news when something bad happens. You might remember the March 2003 Port Mobile explosion.

Only >3 miles. That blast cracked two of my windows and woke me straight out of bed (I accidentally slept late that day). However you could get a nice view from the Empire State Building nearly 15 miles away. Staten Island is the smoke filled island in the background.

Thanks. I got a late night call from a friend saying he was on that boat. He told me his story and said he was OK. Not even a scratch.

I've had to look at that ferry four times going/leaving home. I get misty everytime I see it. They covered it with blue draps to mask the damage, however the papers showed the full extent of the damage.
