I thought th GK in the title stood for General Knowledge.

I guess most peoples general knowledge doesn't get much past basic chemistry, let alone stuff like this.

You need moles to calculate molarity and you need temperature and pressure to calculate number of moles. Insufficient information.

No, insufficient information. I gave you more than enough to solve the problem. This is a typical high school question I saw similiar ones on a couple of final exams. The answer is simple:

Molarity = step 1: find the moles of solute using the formula:
mass of solute (g) divided by formula mass of solute
Step 2: divide the moles of solute by volume of solution in liters M / V.
Or if you know the moles of solute,
Molarity = moles of solute divided by volume of solution in liters . KF has a formula mass of 39 + 19 or 58 g/mole. Since 116 grams are given, 116g / 58g/mole = 2 moles of solute.
To find the Molarity, take 2 moles of solute and divide by 1 L of solution.
2 moles / 1 L = 2.00 M solution

B. 2.00 M is the correct answer.

number of moles = PV/RT. How else would you find the number of moles?

SH!T i had that...

good question ruscorp

Haha, your handy dandy New York State Regents Chemistry reference tables will help you. Every student in the state has one for reference.

http://www.emsc.nysed.gov/ciai/test...chemref2002.pdf

Perhaps I should make the question a little easier tomorrow that was a tough one.

No hard feelings now.

you should make it like final jeopardy and give us the subject before hand...

That's not what I would have said, I just didn't show up for the exam.

Requiring a bloke to look stuff up in tables I consider as not having enough information.

Can your questions be more general, please. I live in Britain and we don't do that kind of science stuff.

Yeh we just invent it all, then forget how to do it..

We like questions that are simple!!

Blimey just heard that Bill Wierbernek(or however you spell it) has died.

Shame always liked watching him wield his cue(and pint) around the green beize.

I totally agree. Please tell that to the NYS Board of Regents, they seem to think it's fundamental. I would bet 99.9% of the board members have never even taken a Regents exam.

Understanding the media would seem to be more crucial to me. But then again, since the board of regents won't be taking the exams, I guess they figure its fair stuff.

I've failed nearly every Regents. I have no idea how I got out of high school.

what do you think was the most difficult regents?

i failed sequential course III regents because my teacher was a wrestling coach moron who was more interested in what was down this blonde girl's shirt than anything else. i had to re-take the exam in summer school at another school. (the things we do for a fregin gold seal)

the guy explained interpolation as "when you kind of estimate what the difference between these two things.."

exactly..he's a moron

Never took sequential course 3 Regents, I took accounting as a variance or course 3.

Math Course 1: 21
Math Course 1: 36 (Second time)
Math Course 1: 65 (Third time)

Math Course 2: 16
Math Course 2: 24 (Second time)

Biology: 45
Chemistry: 36
Earth Science: 85

Global Studies: 55
US History: 85

English: 36
English: 45 (Second time)
English: 51 (Third time)

Never took a any foreign language Regents.

So I'm pretty dumb.

wait..so did you get the regents diploma?

what's with the chemistry question that you were so confident about?? you were steps from titration
