windows 98 shutdown problem

| i have a problem that when we shutdown windows in win98 it gets hang on a screen "SHUTDOWN IS SHUTTING DOWN "
PLZ TELL ME THE SOLUTION
SECONDLY WHEN I INSTALL NIC DRIVER IT DOES NOT INSTALL WHILE IT WAS WORKING BEFORE I FORMATTED THE HARDDISK,BUT AFTER FORMATTIBG THE SAME CARD WHICH WAS WORKING DOES NOT DETECTED OR INSTALLED.

| 1. It always affected by sound card driver, especially WDM. Remove the sound card driver, see what happens. If it is the reason to make your system hangs, please find an update driver.
2. Have you tried to detect your hardware in "Control Panel->System Device"? | |

| I remember getting that same problem with Dell machines at a firm I worked at a few years ago. At the time, Dell said it was a Microsoft problem and Microsoft said it was a Dell problem. Remove the sound card driver......hmm. We never worried about it. We just had people reboot their machines at the end of the day and turn off their monitors before they left. |
