| I've install AD to the Advanced Server, and the client joined the domain later, when I double click the Administrators Group under Local Users and Groups of the Computer Management, it allows to assign rights to the user of the client PC, however after I choose the domain adminis group at the domain side, it prompted the error that the specified domain either does not exit or could not be contacted. After that, I choose the rights again at Look in, it's dimmed. Nothing can be chosen. I don't know what it happened, can anyone help me to solve this problem | |

| Again, I join PC running Win98 to the Advanced Server, it works. The strange thing is that, only PC running Win98 can browse the advanced server, but the server cannot. How to fix this problem? | |

| Your profile says that you are an MCSE. | |

Why is that you and Ruscorp are so critical of the people who has MCSE and still learning the trade?
I worked many years without one, I have people who work for me that has one, that does not mean I could not do their job nor do they have any less respect of me being their boss. Some of the MCSE went through school and they are green, but they did not cheat or steal, they got their MCSE by passing the test. They may not have the confidence as the seasoned professionals like you, they inquire in this board so they can be sure that they do the right thing and leverage the expereince from all memebers here. Also, his MCSE may be 4.0 and not 2k. We all have to start some place, and yes, some of them are paper, but that does not mean they are infereier but just means that they are in-expereinced. If you don't help them, you will always be the one doing their job, if you help them, then they can do their job. That is a win-win.
All I am saying is that why don't you give some of them a break sometimes? Just my opinion, no disrespect meant.

What you say did not sound right. If you installed AD, then you should not manage your DC from the Computer Management. You should be manage your DC from the AD. Check your options. good luck.

| twister, I agree with everything you said. I know very little compared to IT veterans. I have not yet earned my MCSA. I try to stay humble. I am constantly reminded of the profundity of my ignorance and I struggle to learn a little bit more each day. I have tried my best to help members when I have something to offer. In this particular case, however, if you read the wording of the question, it doesn't seem consistent with an MCSE. I plead guilty to being suspicious of this post. | |

By no mean of that you don't help, you help planty!!! There are true testmonials all over this place that shown that you have much to offer with or without the MCSE. MCSE is nothing without charactor and motivation. My friend, you have those and much more!
Yeah, I do agree his word is a little fresh to Win2k, the only explaination that I have is that he is got 4.0 and is new to 2k... |
