| BAD AMERICAN
Written by Ted Nugent, the rock singer and hunter/naturalists, upon hearing that California Senators B. Boxer and D. Feinstein denounced him for being a "gun owner" and a "Rock Star".
This was his response
After telling the senators about his past contributions to children's charities and scholarship foundations which have totaled more than $13.7 million in the last 5 years!!
"I'm a Bad American, this pretty much sums it up for me. I like big trucks, big boats, big houses, and naturally, pretty women.
I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some comb-over who wants to give it away to crack addicts squirting out babies.
I don't care about appearing compassionate. I think playing with toy guns doesn't make you a killer. I believe ignoring your kids and giving them Prozac might.
I think I'm doing better than the homeless. I don't think being a minority makes you noble or victimized. I have the right not to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird or make me mad.
This is my life to live, and not necessarily up to others expectations. I know what SEX is and there are not varying degrees of it.
I don't celebrate Kwanzaa. But if you want to that's fine; I just don't feel like everyone else should have to.
I believe that if you are selling me a Dairy Queen shake, a pack of cigarettes, or hotel room you do it in English. As of matter of fact, if you are an American citizen you should speak English. My uncles and forefather shouldn't have had to die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born into come disrespect ours, and make us bend to your will. Get over it.
I think the cops have every right to shoot your sorry butt if you're running from them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the word 'freeze' or 'stop' in English, see the previous line.
I don't use the excuse "it's for the children" as a shield for unpopular opinions or actions.
I know how to count votes and I feel much safer letting a machine with no political affiliation do a recount when needed.
I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you qualify for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans, etc., so you can open a hotel, 7-Eleven, trinket shop, or anything else, while the indigenous peoples can't get past a high school education because they can't afford it.
I didn't take the initiative in inventing the Internet. I thought the Taco Bell dog was funny. I want them to bring back safe and sane fireworks.
I believe no one ever died because of something Ozzy Osbourne, Ice-T or Marilyn Manson sang, but that doesn't mean I want to listen to that crap from someone else's car when I'm stopped at a red light. But, I respect your right to.
I think that being a student doesn't give you any more enlightenment than working at Blockbuster or Jack In The Box.
I don't want to eat or drink anything with the words light, lite or fat-free on the package.
Our soldiers did not go to some foreign country and risk their lives in vain and defend our Constitution so that decades later you can tell me it's a living document ever changing and is open to interpretation. The guys who wrote it were light years ahead of anyone today, and they meant what they said - now leave the document alone, or there's going to be trouble.
I don't hate the rich. I help the poor. I know wrestling is fake.
I've never owned, or was a slave, and a large percentage of our forefathers weren't wealthy enough to own one either. Please, stop blaming me because some prior white people were idiots
-
and remember, tons of white, Indian, Chinese, and other races have been enslaved too it was wrong for every one of them.
I believe a self-righteous liberal Democrat with a cause is more dangerous than a Hell's Angel with an attitude.
I want to know exactly which church is it where the "Reverend" Jesse Jackson's preaches; and, what exactly is his job function.
I own a gun, you can own a gun too, and any red blooded American should be allowed to own a gun, but if you use it in a crime, then you will serve the time.
I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it makes you mad, then invent the next operating system that's better and put your name on the building. Ask your buddy that invented the Internet to help you.
I don't believe in hate crime legislation; even suggesting it makes me mad. You're telling me that someone who is a minority, gay disabled, another nationality, or otherwise different from the mainstream of this country has more value as a human being that I do as a white male! If someone kills anyone, I'd say that it's a hate crime. We don't need more laws! Let's enforce the ones we already have.
I think turkey bacon, turkey beef, turkey fake anything sucks. I believe that, it doesn't take a village to raise a child It takes a parent with the guts to stand up to the kid and spank his butt and say "NO!" when it's necessary to do so. I'll admit that the only movie that ever made me cry was Ole Yeller.
I didn't realize Dr. Seuss was a genius until I had a kid. I will not be frowned upon or be looked down upon or be made to keep silent because I have these beliefs and opinions.
I thought this country allowed me that right. I will not conform or compromise just to keep from hurting somebody's feelings.
I'm neither angry nor disenfranchised, no matter how desperately the mainstream media would like the world to believe otherwise.
Yes, I guess by some people's definition, I may be a bad American.
But that's tough."

| I first saw Ted Nugent @ the Dripping Springs Music Festival in 1970 w/ The Amboy Dukes. He was a wildman then, too. He is BIG into bowhunting now. He sells his own signature line of equiptment. He comes to Abilene every year now to hunt wild boar w/ friends and plays small clubs (no less loud). He echoes my sentiments, as well.
When in doubt, whip it out.

I have to disagree here. Remember this:
"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed".
The above amendment, which Ted is quite fond of implies that gun ownership in the context of a well-ordered militia is OK as a means of defending on's rights against a strong central government. Gun ownership today is not regarded in the same manner as when this was written. Any attempt by a well-regulated militia to subvert the central government will be met with crushing force. Individuals owning guns, it could (and has been) argued, is not OK based upon the above amendment. I am not against personal gun ownership personally, but I do mean to say that it is impossible not to have "intepretations" of what the consitution means. The 2nd amendment has usually been defended based upon the traditional intepretation and not totally on what it actually says.

Not true, unfortunately. Blacks are more likely to get jail time than whites and poor much more likely to see the insides of a jail than the rich. Political correctness has its faults, but the basic idea behind it is that people should be treated with genuine equality, not saying one thing and doing something else.
The framers of the constituion were slave owners by the way . . . I would not consider that being "light years" ahead of people alive today.
I agree with a lot of what Ted says, and I respect hom for being honest, but he does try to simplify things too much, and if people were as intolerant of him and his lifestyle as he seems to be of others' he would not find it so amusing to poke fun at injustice and inequity.

| I love this selective constitutionalism. Lets die to protect our first amendment rights, but lets argue whether we even have 2nd amendment rights. The 2nd amendment states a right and gives a reason why that right is so very vital. Giving the reason for its importance doesn't negate the right. As for your observation that not enough white criminals go to jail. If that is true, I would join in any effort to see that any criminal ends up in jail. I don't give a damned what your color is. If you use a gun in the commission of a crime, you should do a mandatory 10 years on top of any other sentence for the crime itself. As for PC, it has no value, no validity. It is an insult to human dignity. It is obscene. It is stupid. I hope that society wakes up, recognizes that it is being manipulated by divisive forces and crushes the principles being propounded by the thought police. | |

| Ted Nugent no longer has to worry about a music career. Most of this rant is about as interesting and intelligent at his lyrics (Cat Scratch Fever Heh).
He's a nut. | |

I would also support equal justice being distributed regardless of race (I think Nugent would as well), but this is not the case as of yet.
PC is not an isult to human dignity, unless you think it is Ok to call balcks niggers, and the like. Being sensitive to other people does not imply injustice to the ones who are the most cokmmon offenders. True, it is taken to extremes for political gain, but those of us who have experienced discrimination cannot afford to be so blase about it.
Giving a reason for a right does not negate its importance, but if the intentions of the framers of the constitution are to be respected, it must be acknowleged that their ideals are no longer applicable in our current system of government, otherwise eligious separatists and others of their ilk would not be stopped in their efforts to thwart strong central governmental control.
And nothing I said reeks of "selective constituionalism". I stated that all laws based on the constitution are interpretations of it. In case you have forgotten, we have a whole segment of government (the Supreme Court), which is an integral part of our system of checks and balances, whose sole duty it is to interpet the constituion.

The criticisms and agreements are equally valid regardless of who wrote it. Especially the bit about better OS's than Windows.

I'm Your Worst Nightmare. I am a BAD Republican.
I like big cars, big cigars and naturally big racks. I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some mid-level governmental functionary with a bad comb-over who wants to give it away to crack addicts squirting out babies. I don't care about appearing compassionate. I think playing with guns doesn't make you a killer. I believe its called the Boy Scouts for a reason. I think I'm better than the homeless. I am not the real Slim Shady, so I think that I’m gonna stay seated right here in this damn comfy chair. I don't think being a minority makes you noble or victimized. I don't care if you call me a racist, a homophobe or a misogynist. I am not tolerant of others because they are different. I know that no matter how big Jennifer Lopez’s toilet gets, I’ll still want to see it.
I don't celebrate Kwanzaa.
I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac, you do it in English. I like my porn without silicon. I don't use the excuse "it's for the children" as a shield for unpopular opinions or actions. I want to know when MTV became such crap. I think getting a hummer is sex, and every man is entitled to at least one extremely sloppy one per month. I know what the definition of is is. I think Oprah's eyes are way too far apart. I didn't take the initiative in inventing the Internet. I thought the Taco Bell dog was funny. I want them to bring back safe and sane fireworks.
I believe no one ever died because of something Ozzy Osbourne, Ice-T or Marilyn Manson sang. I think that being a student doesn’t give you any more enlightenment than working at Blockbuster. I’ve never mourned a dead goldfish. I don’t want to eat or drink anything with the words light, lite or fat-free on the package. I believe everyone has a right to pray to their God or gods, while I pray that the test results come back negative. I think the Clippers should play in the WNBA. My heroes are Abraham Lincoln, Orson Wells, Ronald Reagan and whoever canceled Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. I think creative violence makes movies more interesting and Iraqis more dead.
I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor.
I know wrestling is fake, but I still think The Rock could kick my butt. I think global warming is junk science. I’ve never owned or was a slave, I didn't wander forty years in the desert after getting chased out of Egypt, I haven’t burned any witches or been persecuted by the Turks and neither have you, so shut-the-f-up already. South Park still makes me laugh. I think you can respect and admire women while mentally undressing them. I believe a self-righteous liberal with a cause is more dangerous than a PlayStation. I want to know which church is it exactly where the Rev. Jessie Jackson preaches. I think explosions are cool. I don't care where Ellen puts her tongue. I think the cops have every right to shoot your sorry XXX if you’re running from them. I thought Spinal Tap was great, but Rob Reiner can still kiss my backside.
I worry about dying before I get even.
I’ve discovered that DVD is better than Laserdisc. I like the convenience of buying oranges while I'm waiting at a stop-light, and I'm pretty sure the Latina midget selling them to me is glad she no longer lives in a refrigerator packing carton outside Ensenada. I figured out Bruce Willis was dead midway through The Sixth Sense but enjoyed it anyway. I think turkey bacon sucks. I want somebody to explain to me exactly why it's wrong to point out that when I watch a freeway chase, I know the losers the police eventually pull out of the car are gonna be a gang-banging hommies or vatos. I believe that it doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes a parent. I think tattoos and piercings are fine if you want them, but please don’t pretend they are a political statement.
I want to know what the hell is going on when Geena Davis has a sitcom.
I like hard women, hard liquor and a hard bowel movement first thing in the morning. I believe you don’t have to speak with a lisp to pick out a couch for your living room. I'll admit that the only movie that ever made me cry was Field of Dreams. I didn't realize Dr. Seuss was a genius until I had a kid. I will not conform or compromise just to keep from hurting somebody's feelings. Sometimes I throw my soft drink can in the trash, even when the recycle bin is just a few more steps. Making love is fine, but sometimes I wanna get laid. I'm neither angry nor disenfranchised, no matter how desperately the mainstream media would like the world to believe otherwise.
Yes, I'm a bad Republican. And I vote... even if it rains.

Mr. Linux Guy, I thank you for proving my point. From what planet your remarks come I do not know. How did we get involved in a discussion of the "N" word. This is the problem with PC. If you do not conform to the norms established by the thought police, you are pegged a racist. No decent person would ever use the term you mentioned to refer to other human beings. PC takes it to a much greater degree. The PC crowd issue the title of the day. You are required to use the approved term or you are condemned by the PC bastards. When I was a child, the approved title was negro. It became black. Now, these PC idiots want you to say "African American". Moreover the thought police have declared that you must not have certain political views lest they label you a racist. For example you cannot be against affirmative action. You cannot be against welfare. You cannot be against immigration. You cannot be for English Only legislation. You cannot be for the death penalty. There are many more where that came from. A very close friend of mine who happens to be black once said to me that he feels that black people have very restrained political rights in America in large part due to the views of other black people. He pointed out that white people are free to be conservative, liberal, socialist, communist, or anything else their heart desires. The PC brownshirts have decided that if you are black you are expected to be a liberal Democrat. Why shouldn't black people have the same unfettered freedom of political thought as whites?
When I was a child there lived a man that all decent people admired. His name was Martin King. He said that he dreamed of a day when color wouldn't matter. Liberalism and PC have made it matter more today than ever.

I beg to differ. As a matter of fact, most blacks were republicans until FDR came on the scene. And although I agree that many "PC" people go to far, the basis of much of what they stand for is not trying to control what other people think, but insisting that people are treated with dignity. Respecting the rights of other people is not merely a matter of what political party you are a member of. If you must know, I am in favour of the death penalty for those who cross the boundary and kill others without a reason. I have had a member of my own immediate family killed by a man who did not care for the life of others. I am also not in favour of affirmative action as it has been thus far enacted. Colour shouldn't matter, but it is an infortunate fact that it does, today as much as always. What do you think happened to the many racist politicians of the past? Did they just disappear? Or did they "reform" and pretned to become liberals while all the while retaining their racist ideologies? Dick Chaney voted against freeing Nelson Mandela many times when he sat in congress. Is this the type of "color doesn't matter" that you wish to promote? No one ever said that respecting other people's rights entails following the democratic political philosophy, or any other philosophy . . . remember that Martin King died for the right of minorities to be treated fairly, but that is still not a reality. People who are looking for political power will use any means of getting it, be it conservative or liberal agendas, but this does not mean that repsect is not due to those who are not in the majority.
I think you and I must have different ideas of what "PC" means. For me it is simply respecting other people . . . . to you it is thought control. But much of what the "PC crowd" criticises are genuine problems and not just illusions.
| Tech Ranger 2002-09-28, 8:26 pm |
| I am very concerned about the problems of racism. I take profound exception with PC as an approach to deal with the problem of discrimination. I believe that color DOES NOT matter and should not matter. I believe in concrete actions to tackle this problem. For example, in NYC there is rampant discrimination in housing. Most apartment rentals and home purchases occur through real estate agencies. These agencies depend for their livelihood on their licenses. Rip those damned licenses from those criminals hands and put them to work sweeping floors or whatever other gainful employment they can find without their papers if you can prove that they are directing customers on a racial basis.
Aside from PC, the other thing that I despise is racial pride. I am not proud of my race. I see people expressing pride in their race and it reminds me of Hitler. Race is a function of pigmentation, which has no value. If you ever find me expressing pride in being a certain color, please shoot me. |
