Anyone know what the passing score is for 70-219? (Also: does anyone know the # of questions asked?)

My score report from Aug 30, 2002 says the passing score is/was 613. I had 4 case studies totalling 40 questions.

And mine from September 2001 said 613 also. So its a pretty safe bet that its still 613.

See recent posts on the 70-219 forum. Indicates that exam changed effective 9-20-2002. New exam = 5 hours, 15 minutes; 5 scenarios with each timed separately; approximately 50 questions; pass/fail reporting only!

Can't verify other parameters but Prometrics now lists exam timeframe of 5 hours, 15
minutes. Yikes!!

I just took the 219 on east coast, yesterday (Wed). I was schedule for 240 minutes and 40 questions. What a nightmare and a surprise! 300 minutes and 50+ questions. Took me about 4+ hours. I am not even sure how I passed it, but I did pass. Another curve ball thrown from MS in the dirt for you to try to hit out of the park.

My test had a scenaro on it called State University. They wanted you to put all the accounts of a group of colleges in a single forest, I think they wanted a single domain (can't remember now), and a single child domain (if I remember that point corectly), while one of the colleges could not agree on it. I had two sheets of paper full before I started to answer the questions. I wanted to get them right. I made a note of the single child domain point, as I knew it would be one of the "keys" to the design.

It was about 87 minutes for that scenario alone, or something like that--could have been 67. I could have easily spent 2 hrs on it wading through the garbage.

It had a trust question that had you read a set of instructions and then move the selection out on the screen and then move another selection out by cntrl click to make to selections trust each other. Talk about a lamer. It wasn't difficult to do it, just took time to read the instructions and figure out your trust.

I spent a lot of time reading the scenario in order to pick out the "key" points in order to answer the questions properly, never realizing I would have this instruction set to go through once I got into the questions. Several of the questions required quite a bit of moving and arranging answers! I hope no one else has to get this scenario. I even hope MS cans it or at least gives decent people a clue what they are up to.

I like to be thorough and do the best I can on my test. Never cared for snares and traps. I did not have enough time to do this scenario properly. I had to guess at much of the answers because the hands of time was against me, and I DID NOT like that one bit.

I really wished I knew how I did on State University, so I could know if I did get a reasonable margin of correct answers. I know I bombed the trust question, due to lack of time when I could have aced that question because trust aren't hard to do.

Well, I must say after taking all the MS exams for the MCSE, I have truly grown to hate their tactics in exams, and have learned very little from them, other than to learn how to look for tricks and wade through the mud.

There has to be some way for MS to improve this and help us learn better on their test. I would want qualified techs myself, not necesarily good test takers. Good test takers don't always make the best techs. Actually, I know several really great techs that have awesome reputations and they just have a difficult time with test! MS should re-evaluate this entire thing.

Well, enough ranting on this nutcase exam.

Peace

Thanks for sharing your 70-219 exam experience, though I hated to read about the exam format. I managed to pass 70-216 last week. The exam had 65 questions and was populated with 7 or 8 move and place items that required dexterity very unlike those in 210, 215, 217.

I too have done enough M$ exams to understand that learning to comprehend and use the MS networking products and learning enough to pass the exams are two different things. Not necessarily mutually exclusive but not entirely complimenatry.
