IE takes 5 mins to load pages ???
|

| Lo,
I have a user.. infact a MD who's home pc is acting up. He connects to the internet via isdn and pings the internet with a fast ping (local country websites in under 50ms) so the connection is not the problem.
The problem is that it takes aprox 4/5 mins to load each internet page using IE. I dunno what version of IE, but its 5 or above. any ideas ? The pages he loads up are something like www.google.com or www.eircom.net, not exactly heavy pages....
I havenet seen the PC, only his description of the problem. DNS is not an issue as he can ping Internet address in under 50ms in ms-dos. I've sent him a cd with IE6 on it and asked him to install it, and also Netscape6.. just in case IE is totally buggered
any taughts ? | |

| well, if they can ping, then you know its not a network problem and most likely an application error, by the way, can they ping by both IP number as well as machine name,,,with a tcp\ip data flow prob like this it could be a number of things, delete all temps and cookies, repair\restore IE defaults, configure\disable firewall, enable and isolate tcp\ip as the only bound protocol, check for new.net which installs with file sharing progs and can handcuff your network apps, maybe extract some new winsock\wsock32 files, disable and progs and apps that load on startup that are unnecesary, the list goes on,,,,,,,, | |
