| I total agree with the need to secure medical information being passed from a healthcare provider to where ever it may end up, (eligibilty, claims, and so on). But for the govermenet to try and regulate. Maybe I have not read enough to fully understand and I enjoy with technology and getting valuable experince with to implement some of the security tools. But it seemd that the are just gonna get rich off of enforceing regulations. Maybe i am missing something here what is your opinon? | |

| I believe in National Health care. I pay more for Health Insurance than for rent. By the grace of God, I can still barely afford it. There are many who go without coverage and are playing Russian Roulette with their lives. Many others are covered not by their own means or by a guarantee from the government, but by the business people for whom they work. These business people have the power to say Bye Bye any damned time they want. What a precarious way to live. When I got married 23 years ago, complete coverage cost me $18.00/week. Then there was no crisis. Today there is indeed a crisis. As we have often heard, there are old people who must decide between food and pills. If we are being robbed, we call the police. No cost. If our home is on fire, we call the fire dept. No cost. It is paid for by the general revenues collected by our governments. The same should be the case with respect to health care. Good health should not become a luxury enjoyed by the elite. | |

Where does the government get its general revenues, from your taxes. So indeed, there is a cost, and you pay it everytime you buy something. I used to live in Canada where the provinical tax rate was 11% to cover the cost of "Socialized Medicine", the amount I pay for health insurance here in Texas is only slightly more then half what I used to pay in sales tax in Canada.
My wife works at the county hospital here where no one gets turned away due to lack of insurance. If the hospital cannot collect, the county tax payers have to eat the cost. It is not the people without insurance are denied care, they just do not get the private rooms, and tv's and all the other "luxuries" that the hospital can provide, but they do get medical care.
I was a paramedic for 11 years, and I'll tell you we didn't collect insurance info until they were in the truck enroute to the hospital. Patient care first, payment info later.
After being in a society with national health care, and in a society without, on both sides, (provider and patient), I have no problem with private pay medical insurance. |
