I've quite a soft spot for the Hammers, saw them play a lot in the past, with a mate who also suffered like yourself...Always remember a damn cold day stood on the away terrace at Barnsley, it rained, snowed, sleeted, hailed, and blew an almighty gail staraight at us, god I was cold and the Hammers lost 4-1 I think, but we still had a laugh......
Anyway you beat ManU at Old Trafford, something we've been unable to do......

Here's some trivia for you: The championship in baseball was originally called the "World Series" because a newspaper called the "World" sponsored it, not because it was necessarily a world series in the literal sense.

| vbrown - My nearest beach is Laguna Beach, though I find myself at Dana Point (along the strand) or along Crystal Cove when I go to the water's edge. Since I'm also so close to the Saddleback Mountains, I can usually be found cruising around O'Neil Regional Park. Long Beach has changed quite a bit over the past couple of years. How long have you been away? I've been living here now for 12 years but I have dreams of movign back to New England every fall. But then the snow storms start rolling in and I realize that So. Cal is really a great place to be.
By the way, I spent a night in Omaha ONCE.

| Pavlov--
I've been in Omaha for about 25 years, hope to move back to So Cal after I wrap up my degree. You're sure in a gorgeous neck of the woods (but what part of California is ugly, anyway?) I'm sure in for a bit of culture shock, I think, when I see the place again. Sure do miss the drives down Pacific Coast Hwy...
Omaha is okay, it has the four seasons like New England--but I've had enough of these winters with no night life!
So what did you think of the one night in Omaha?
| Pavlov 2002-01-03, 6:43 pm |
| I got up early the next morning and high-tailed it to Boulder, CO, where I spent a year. Can't wait to get back there again.
As for what part of Calif. is ugly??? I am going to go with Norco. It's dairy land and that's the stretch of highway you put the pedal to the medal and drive through doing 100mph Jeesh - the stench!
| vbrown 2002-01-03, 6:52 pm |
| Oh, I think I've got you beat, there. Try I-80 west from about Lincoln to the Colorado border--pure cow puree, flat and boring! Sometimes on a clear day here, you can smell the zoo if the wind is blowing right.
Colorado is some awesome territory, too. Wouldn't mind a visit when the weather turns nice again...
But for what I would consider its faults, it isn't a bad place to raise kids.

I am English and reside in Germany. For the past year I have been trying to enter the I.T Industry but to no avail. I was a member of HMF for 12 years, so I was seperated from my family alot. Now that I am in civilian life, I do not want to be seperated from them anymore. The wifes German, and is attending Uni and working, so she doesn't really want to live in Britain. Unfortunately, there aren't that many firms over here willing to employ someone that hasn't got a german Ausbildung (2 year training) or a degree, or someone with no commercial experience. My contract runs out soon, so I may be faced with being seperated and returning to work in the UK, if I want to pursue an I.T career.
