Author too much information

providing too much information in your profile on examnotes.com can enable people to possibly gain access to your yahoo or hotmail accounts. yahoo and hotmail will show your password if you answer certain questions correctly, such as your zip code and birthdate, which is shown in some people's examnotes profiles. although they would still need to answer your secret question correctly, knowing your zip code and birthdate will help them in possibly figuring out your account passwords.

Oh really?

I would like to think that this site is secure in that respect. I don't believe that a hacker could determine my password from my profile.

Hippo,

Im not sure if you were just being cheeky but I think she is refering to people that post their birthdays or postal codes in their profiles And who may not have remembered that these were the answer to the secret question of their Hotmail accounts.

In other words - the Scriptkiddie 'hacker' see's your email address and then goes to hotmail requesting the password via secret question and answers it (maybe) with the info provided in the ...

Ugh.

You know what she means dont ya lol

Thanks for the heads up!

Cheers

OK then.

See if you, or anybody, can answer my secret question correctly. A pint of Marston's Pedigree to the first hacker who can. Can you also tell what ISP I use?

Hippo

btw I am being cheeky, I have loads of cheek. Have you seen the size of a hippo?

LMAO

I wouldnt actually try it but it would be so freaking hilarious if I someone did and it was 'Hippo" LOL

JK of course. Dont do that kids at home!

I always think its funny that people say
'watch it! I got your IP!'

What do you really think you are gonna do? Contact the Sys Admin at a company and have him look it up and then do what?

Im sure the ISP's are just delighted to spend all the day investigating allegations from people.

Hey - what can someone do with an IP? lol, anyone know the worst that can happen?

Providing you keep you're Firewalls up to date and properly configured then anyone knowing your IP address isn't really much of a threat.

If you haven't got any Firewalls etc in place then they could pretty much do anything they wanted to you're system, wipe out you're hard drive, trawl you're system for any passwords that are stored on there, etc, etc .....

It wouldn't be too hard, with the wealth of freely downloadable tools out there,to do all these things and more.

Worst case scenario -- You're buying new bits for you're machine in the morning cause it's all gone horribly wrong

i know what you were getting at.

i used to use my pet's name as a password. i must have used it for years. in fact, i think my sister still uses it. if i have mentioned my pet's name in any of my posts, who knows what you'd be able to access as i have used the same username for the guts of five years.

My mate's dog is called Dave. If that's not bad enough in itself, the dog always runs away and he has to go round its favourite haunts shouting "DAVE" at the top of his lungs.

my sister used to name our cat's "fluffy". i used to name tham after members of rock bands. one litter was nearly named after duran duran, but my sister refused to call a cat "roger". i can't remeber where we got the names from after that. sonic youth probably.

Presumably she was alright with Simon though.

simon was probably alright. maybe she thought that if she was walking around the house calling, "roger! roger!" that people might think she was a madame or something.

a bloke i used to work with had a dog called "come 'ere" for a laugh. "sit, come 'ere. stay, come 'ere". he just wanted to wind the animal up.

I usually use favorite colors, bands, actresses, cars, whatever I can think of. I have way to many passwords to remember.

Poor dog. When we were kids a friend of mine mixed whisky with milk and gave it to next-door's dog. His neighbours were having a BBQ at the time and the dog (which was normally a docile old thing) went bounding back round there jumping all over people and staggering about. Then it jumped in their pond and shook water over everyone.

It wasn't looking too clever the next day though....

When I was younger I once gave the family tropical fish a bubble bath, Squirted washing up liquid into the fish tank stirred it up a bit, lovely

Strange as it may seem but the fish actually survived

When a friend's dog had puppies, one of them was so ugly when it was born the first reaction was to say fück me, and the name stuck.

one time the dog got lost and my friend had to go round town shouting fück me, come here fück me, where are you fück me.

i remember catching sticklebacks in a ditch at the back of our house in a jamjar. i left them on a back windowsill coz me mammy called me in for tea. of course, i didn't remember about them for a couple of days, and found them floating on the top of the water.
