| Can 2 or more users access simultaneously an Access database and make changes? If so, how would that be done?
Thanks a lot! | |

| i imagine briefcase or something similar could look after that kind of trick. i agree that mous forum could be the correct place to ask the same question - it mightn't look the busiest forum, but all questions seem to get answered within a few days. maybe you could pm paisley. | |

| As far as I know, Only the 1st user or the owner of that database has exclusive rights. All others may not be able to open unless they have create/delete privileges to that directory or may only be able to open a "read only" copy. Which is usless if they have to make changes. If I'm not mistaken, permission changes can be changed , just not sure where. I think the properties box in design view. If anyone else knows something different, please let me know. | |

Yes, multiple users can access & make changes to an Access Database. You just have to set the default open mode to Shared and not Exclusive. To do this in Access 2000 just open the database you want to share. Then go to Tools, Options, Advanced, and change the default open mode from exclusive to shared. And you should be good to go. We share multiple Access Databases here, some have 15+ users accessing them. So it works great. Good luck, I hope that helps you out! | |
