| ,,,question for the gurus',,,i work in a call center troubleshooting DSL and highspeed,,,regarding the dial-up,,, one of the most common issues we encouner is users can connect but can establish data flow(no pages),,,vague problem i know and there are many causes and fixes,,,what have you guys experienced with this kind of thing,,,any comments(helpful ones) appreciated,,... | |

| Most of the time when a User connects but cannot browse the net or get e-mail are related to the DNS resolutions.
I also tell them to ping a known e-mail server address and hostname to see if they connects. | |

| ok,,,lets suppose that communication over ports 80, 110 and 25 dont work,,,yet they are pingable most of the,,, | |

| if connection is there and user can't user port 80 etc, then this is what you tell them.
reinstall window, better yet, return it to the store imediately for full refund...
stupid user who install firewall blocking there own access because they read in some dinky article how important security is should not be allow to operate computers.
