i started my mcse training a month a go and was told by my college to skip the first one and sit 2152 and 2153, which i've have. but now really wish i didn't.

is it worth buying another computer and setting up a network at home, or has any one got any cheaper ideals.

and is it ture that the evaluation copys of ms2000 are laid out different than full copys

Much of what you would skip or not skip depends upon your own experience and background. Do you have any certifications already? Are you currently working in IT? If so, how long have you been doing what you're doing?

If you're new to IT and certification, I would not skip anything! I would suggest if you continue MS certifications, that you find a way to have at least 2 PC's. One running Server and one running Pro. Building a domain controller on your own and experimenting and playing with the various management consoles is the best preparation for the first 2 exams in the MCSE path.

As for your question about the quality of the eval copies... they should be laid out exactly the same. You just have a window of time where the product will work and then you'll have to reinstall and start the process over again - which, by the way, is also good practice

it will be harder without a second computer but it can be done.

If you don't think you're up to the W2K Pro stuff yet, get some other material, general network stuff, there are loads of books around, and resources on the net.
Have you checked out the MS website for info?
I would also say it is much easier to learn this stuff running a server and workstation.

Good Luck
