I am currently seeking the MCSE. Is there anybody who has this certification here in the forum is so I would like to know where the best books or information on getting started to study for this. I am alread A+ Certified and have my CCNA so I have a background. I would appreciate any input on this and the direction I should approach the nine separate test in which acquire this Certification.

Sincerely,
Charles Vallee

These forums are full of discussions on this. Search through them and weigh up the various opinions. There is a specific "Windows 2000 Track" forum full of info.

Good luck.

I believe the lesser spotted MCSE was last seen flying south for the winter just over BRAZIL where they were seen celebrating winning the 2002 World cup

LOL, Enforcer.

You'll find many MCSE's here and many other in pursuit of the flying beast

Once you've decided which exam you want to start with, I would suggest spending time in that forum - probably the 210. Search the forum for the question of the day that wbafrank posts and you'll get a good feel for what you need to know. The books for the MCSE exams that are the most popular:

MOC (Microsoft Official Curriculum) - usually given when you take a formal course.
MS Press Training Kits - thick and heavy but has everything you need to know.
New Riders Press books are also gaining in popularity.

Sybex (2nd edit) are okay, but they leave out some important details along the way, so take a look the others.

Then you'll want to look at some practice tests. Transcenders seem to be the way to go for the MS exams.

Welcome to Exam Notes!

That's what I recommended.

Same here for MS Press Training Kit. If you
do get the kit or other book(s), do make sure
to get the errors from the books web site.

Take a look a Allan Carters book on the Four core tests.
