New to the race. Just checking my status. Any suggestions on how to get to most out of this site?

Most of us are unemployed nerds and on unemployment benefits. No one wants us so we come to this forum to make us feel better. We compare our life's story and see who is in deeper sheet.

Jackie, I have highlighted parts of this I feel may be relevant to you.

Do you have a hard time enjoying the things you used to? Do you frequently feel overwhelmed? Have uncontrollable feelings of worthlessness and low motivation? Find it difficult to concentrate? Notice that you're sleeping too much or too little? Many of the signs of depression are easy to miss (not in your case Jackie!). These symptoms are often your mind's way of telling you something is wrong. They can be part of everyday life, or persistent signs of medical illness. Sometimes depression can be triggered by serious life events like death or divorce. Many times it can appear in someone's life for no apparent reason. If you think you might be depressed discuss your symptoms with your doctor today.

You may be forgiven for thinking that this forum is really for football fans, or maybe for JackieChan to voice his sometimes inapt comments and for us to slag him off. But no, this is definitely a techno-nerds site. Have fun - the footie will be over soon and we can get back to what we do best. JackieChan permitting.

A Geek? Definitely! Unemployed? Not a chance! Actually making 52K, so don't take a wowser like jackiechan too seriously. This is a cool place if you are looking to learn some stuff. Don't post or ask for any "braindumps", but feel free to post any questions that you have about a particular technical topic, and you will usually get a very quick reply. Welcome to EN!

and what is it we do best? taking the rise out of JC, or letting do it all by himself?

welcome Tweety

I really get a kick out of reading JC's comments but I only had to stab myself in the eye one time to know it hurts.

I think what's funny is that JackieChan does an amazing job at getting people posting. He's this forum's secret weapon. It must be hell to be so popular Jackie. Keep up the good work. BTW, I know this phenomenon - many of you are suckers for it - now don't take this personally - remember that JC doesn't either.

I wonder what all of this got to do with Football?

I think it's funny
people flamed JC, maybe laughed at him a little, and also welcomed the new member (how courteous)
but nobody answered the question

Jackiechan again, there is something about you that really tells me you're a joker. So, have you landed an IT position now?. This is a great site to post and ask questions and you'd find a lot of helpful people too in response to your post. Welcome to the vitual IT portal club where knowledge is indeed POWER. Welcome

HAHAHAHAHAHA!
HAHAHAHAHAHA!
HAHAHAHAHAHA!
HAHAHAHAHAHA!

This is too funny!!! Poor old tweety doesn't know what's hit him. A simple 'please welcome me into the forum' ends up being an execution to JackieChan!
I personally thought it was a bizzare comment, but no doubt just a strange sense of humor, that really shouldn't offend anyone, unless they are unemployed, low self esteem geeks, and feel bad about it.

Welcome aboard tweety, find a forum, one that you are currently studying perhaps, and read and ask questions and contribute. Also subscribe to the Question of the Day, which is emailed to you, to help you understand your topic a bit better. It is the BEST forum around and people here are great albeit the weird comments here and there. But without them, it might not be as entertaining. Stick around and visit us lots.
Later. Johnny.
