I find it hilarious that they didn't see this thing until after it already happened...BS! They saw it, but didn't say anything to avoid a planetary panic.

Fact is, we'll be doomed far before our sun novas via asteroid or self-destruction. I don't know about you, but if I'm going out, I'd like to know beforehand so I can say my goodbyes

Thanks for the thread, though! Brings up some interesting thoughts in my puny mind.

I think a Supernova explosion would be the best way to go out. Then at least we could say that we went out with a bang! And of course, them guys in other solar systems might see it as well. Maybe if we actually get hit by an asteroid, people on earth will stop their constant bickering for a few minutes.

oh no we wouldn't stop bicking. we would start arguing about who owns it, who can open retail outlets on it, what nationality it is, what religion it is and how the people who will live on it will do in the next world cup.

I figured as much, but I was thinking of a bigger asteroid that would leave people ill-prepared to fight over much of anything.

Asteroid or no asteroid, England will win the next world cup.......

C'mon England

believe me, people do not have to be prepared to fight, they just do. if there was just two people left they would find something to fight over.

I find it funny that they can calculate the orbit of an asteroid for decades into the future that they knew nothing about only days ago

if it did hit though
I'm sure M$ would claim it
or maybe al gore (he did invent the internet after all)
