I was looking for a university which is offering distance learning/online undergraduate degree in IT/IS or telecom or CN . Parkwood University are offering degrees on the base of experience and certificates . They call me here in kuwait and took interview about 45 minutes and they told me that i can get their degre in 14 days on base of my experience(which is 3 years) and all my certifiates certificates . The degree will be "Bachelors of science in Computer Networking" and the will charge from me 2500 US $plus they will send methe following:-
Your degree package will include:
· Your diploma
· A laminated, wallet-sized replica of your diploma
· Honors of your choice
· Transcripts
· Letters of recommendation

In addition, and most importantly, you will receive unlimited support from us,
which includes verification of your credentials to prospective employers.

This is what they are offering me . I can not leave my job and can go for university to take classes because i have good job .

Do you think that their will be any value of this degree if i get it ? Please tell your opinion about this .

Their are some other universities like phoenix etc.. but these are very expensive plus they does'nt accept applications below age of 25 .

The most important thing to consider is ACCREDITATION. Who gives this school (any school) the authority to confer a degree. Without accreditation, a diploma is worthless.

If you want a respected degree you have to work for it, 3-4 years full time. Sorry, no easy way round it.

In fact you might want to have a read at your own signature.

Acreditation is usually granted by some regional authority. Ask the Institution you are considering who acredits them. Ask if their degree is recognized by other universities. Ask other universities if they recognize their degrees. Do some reseach. Ask these questions.

Misty is right. there is no easy way.

14 days!!!
This sounds like a scam. I'm sure they can come up with fake acreditations too. I would not do it.

Seriously...

May I ask why you need the degree? If it is not from a moderately accredited university it might not be worth it. Also, if you plan for future schooling (MBA, etc.) you will need good undergraduate credentials.

Haseeb, have you checked this site? You can get info about accreditation and other stuff in the IT degree forum.

I hope this helps.

It might be just to be able to work in a country, for example in Switzerland if you are a CCIE or want to start your own company you cannot without having some type of degree.

In some countries thats the rules , it doesn't matter if you have professional qualifications and experience you still need a degree

In my current job i am working as network support engineer . Other guys are working with me have degrees but their salaries are same as mine . Presently i am not in hurry to get a degree if i see my present job . But i have a feeling that in the near future i need this degree when i will apply job in another company because this will be a very plus point on my CV .
I have v.good job i can't leave it just for the university because i am getting very good experience . Plus if i start some degree in networking they are gona teach me same topics which i allready know so why to waste time . And i have plan to start my own business , i need degree for some personal reason plus i may move to europe side(not now) so if i will be having bachelors degree and i will be in europe i will start part time masters degree in the university . But i am not going now thats why i don't want to waste any time .
I had applied jobs in some major companies and they rejected me because i was not having degree . Plus some companies don't give you engineer post if you don't have degree . Now what everybody will you suggest me & thanks for the links .

Cheers

I read this thread and fell into an uncontrollable fit of laughter. Don't do this to me !!! I think I bust something laughing BTW.

haseeb_eng, there's only one thing for it - cough up that money and get that degree - the future is rosy - the end is always near.

If you are wanting to continue to get your Masters and you have a good idea of where you are wanting to go to get that masters at give them a call or drop them an e-mail and see if they would allow you in the program if you had your undergrad degree from this college if not dont get it if they say they will then I would double check with a couple of other people at the college and go for it.

Just my 2cents worth

Pheonix universtity is charging 4** US $ per credit so you can guess overall how much wil b the degree cost . It is very expensive If i have to pay this much amount then its better for me to go to any univesity an attend classes . Plus they ar not accepting applications below age of 25 .
And i will also check with some unversities whether they will accept applications for masters if i will be havig this degree .
