onboard nic not working with NT

| I have a new ASUS TUSI-M with onboard nic (SiS), I have tried installing networking during and after the NT install and same problems abound, installing SP6a before and after networking install, the nic installs fine, bind tcp/ip to it, all that. but cannot obtain dhcp lease nor if using static ip PING network. I know it's not entirely braindead because I get a ip conflict message when I tried testing it with IP of my workstation. I have a link light, nothing in event viewer indicating hardware problems etc. All I can PING is 127.0.0.1 and whatever IP I staically assign it. This is for a client and can't send it out to them of course without the nic working...
Using latest drivers from ASUS site, which includes NT drivers. I really can't believe that the nic/motherboard does not support NT.
Any suggestions? TIA

| Check your network cables and connectors and IRQ's. | |

| Can you ping any other station via their IP addresses? Did you reboot the server? Maybe for some reason it still hasn't recongized the newbie on the network. | |

| ok couple of things
what is the speed of the NIC
10
10/100
100
if you are using a hub be sure the hub is the correct speed ie if nic is 10mbs make the the hub is 10 or 10/100
have you tried a direct connection to another PC IE crossover cable
