| I have a computer I put a power supply in because it was burnt up. Now when it is turned on the monitor green light comes on for about 10 seconds and then the orange light comes on. The monitor has a static charge to it. So is this a video card problem? Would the video card going out cause the power supply to burn up? What can I do for this? | |

| Supply us with as many details as possible and we might be able to point you in the right direction. When the light goes green do you see anything, or just the green light?? What have you tried so far and what have you changed since it was working, other than the power supply? I would suggest resetting your cmos as this is an easy and very effective thing to do when you get no video. It will at least rule out bios settings and has saved me many hours of troubleshooting in the past. | |

This because the monitor does not see any video sink
Defective video card, monitor, drives, mother board,... can all cause this. The monitor has a static charge to it.
This is normal due to the high voltage inside of the monitor
So is this a video card problem? Would the video card going out cause the power supply to burn up? More like the power supply kill the video card
What can I do for this?
I start out cheep and easy
1)Try the monitor on another PC if you have one.
2)Try another video card
3)Try removing anything not needed to boot the PC. ( sound cards/net cards drives ... )
Also a power surge can do this.
Is anything else in house dead?
Do you have your PC,monitor on a surge protector?_ |
