Hi folks.
In the last few days I 've noticed that I had too many pop up windows with that annoying ads about credit cards, casinos and all of that, so I made a little search in my HD.

I discover that under my system32 there is a folder named AdCache with many blank html files, jpg and quick time applications.
I know that those files have been put in my pc with out my approval.
Does anyone knows how to avoid this kind of manipulation? Any link that points out ways of avoid that kind of staff?
I have Zone alarm, Norton Internet security but still those guys have a way to do whatever they want with with our pc.
It piss me off that kind of policy.

Any feedback would be usefull guys.
Thanks.

Just use Pop-Up Stopper.

http://www.panicware.com/product_dpps.html

It's free, it works & it just sits in the system tray (if you add it to your startup folder) and does it's job.

Been using it for ages.

Download ad-aware, it will cleanup and remove all those unnesseccary file from your HD. With the support of Nortorn Internet Security Ad-block. Your Popup shall go away.

However, I used Norton IS. But I don't see any popup..

A few days ago I purchased the pop-up killer for $25

This was the best $25 I spent in a long time.

It's such a pleasure to hear those "beeps" every time it kills the pop-up window. It actually closes the window before it even gets a chance to be opened.

The icon to the program sits in your system tray and you can easily right click and disable it when you have to. FOr example, on some sites you need to be able to open the pop-up windows to view more information.

Here is the link: Download the free demo and then upgrade to full version.

Another way to disable pop-ups is to use Opera web browser. It has an option to disallow pop-up windows.

You can get the free version of Opera from www.opera.com

The free version has a banner on top of screen, but it's not a big deal in my opinion. You can also buy the full version with no banner ads.

I downloaded opera a few days ago and I like what I see - a good browser and it actually renders pages faster than Internet Explorer and supports all the JavaScript, Style sheets and most everything else that IE has.

I love it :-))
