| I'm a new member (1week). I noticed alot of users having different levels of membership listed under their names in their posts. What are the levels & how to you attain them.
I also noticed that a lot of people are just posting dumb, unrelated posts, just to try to make the top20 members with the most posts. This needs to be controlled! I hate having to scroll through needless & unhelpful responses when trying to browse the treads. If you don't actually know about a topic nor have a solution, then you shouldn't reply. Their have been many posts that I didn't reply to mainly because I didn't have a solution or something tangible to offer.

I like your policy...you should stick to it.
|
| First off, this is a legitimate question about the site & is in the appropriate forum. Second your response wasn't helpful, it was just another junk post so you can put in your 2 cents worth. | |

| 1.Moderators are not the "Content Police". We moderate (you might look that one up).
2.This is the "General" forum. you are liable to see just about anything in here.
If you want directed content, visit the appropriate forum.
3.Some boards are incredibly restrictive but have much more drivel(cramsession).
4.You probably won't change it. You'll just be ostrasized for railing against it.
5.You can always exercise your ultimate right as a consumer.
of course, that's just how I see it.

Not trying to be mean here man, but isn;t that what YOU are doing as well? Is your response "needful & helpful" or do you have some tangible solution to offer?
Most people here don't stick around long. They come, post a few times, then leave. Ignore them if they are unhelpful to you. It works a lot better than letting them annoy you.

| 2 cents worth here.
I kind of look at it like this. Yes there are people here who post things that they have no clue about. But in essance is that not what this board is based on. Throw your ideas out there and if your right the we'll let you know. If you are incorrect then we will usally pick the idea or answer apart to let you gain the knowledge to answer correctly. When it comes down to it, this is a free board. Most try to stick to the content and then some don't. Just ignor the ones that don't post what you want to read. In a bare bones kinda way it's just like this it's a FREE board. Can't do much with something you don't pay to use or pay to learn from. We are all here to help each other out and I dont' think that stating that some people are stupid and should return their computers is gonna help much. Help those people out. Help them learn. Then you won't have to read really long posts about nothing with no tangibal info in them. Best of luck with your purpose. Have a wonderful day.

| Mimic, who gives a crap about the top 20 list? Don't worry about what others are doing. Nobody wants to hear you whining about how you don't like to have to scroll through all the threads to get what you want.Is someone holding a gun to your head making you scroll through em all. Alright then. Get over it. | |

| Is the "title" under the name important to you? Does it really matter if you are a "Junior Memmber" or "Senior Member"? Anyway, for your info, you can change the so-called "title" for yourself if you want to.
1. On the webpage, click on the gray-colored "Profile" hyperlink.
2. Next, click on "Edit Profile". Then look for the section "Custom User Text".---This is where you can change your title if you do not want to use the auto-assigned title.
As for how the auto-assigned works... It depends on number of messages posted. But since members can change titles themselves, I guess no one needs to resort to posting numerous messages just for the sake of changing from Junior Member to something else.
One man's meat is another man's poison. I think you should not insist that everything meets your expectations.
I think you were very rude to kevkid. Watch your words. If you don't like it here, I'd strongly suggest you go to some other sites on the Internet.

| Mimic,
There are lots of boards out there that deal with "IT" and the like. Each board has its own atmosphere and culture developed by the people that moderate and frequent them. It seems that the people on this board tend to attract people that like to talk about "IT" and other things in their life. IMHO...this brings to the board a sense of trust and familiarity. Top that off with invaluable information and experiences that is generously given out freely.
I for one...would not change a thing.
Truly... | |

| Thanks! you're the only one that answered my question. As for kevkid, he didn't provide any info about my question he just attacked the part of the post where I was expressing my opinion. Anyway it was my opinion & I have a right to express it, just like everyone else here does. |
