Since you all did so well with my last problem, I thought I would try you all with another one.

Excel 97, a user attempts to open an excel file from a network share. When he does his excel will freeze, and 4 minutes later he will get a dr. watson error. He can access all over files in that folder on the network. Other users can access the file over the network. He can not access even when the file is copied to his local machine. Can open and create all other excel sheets locally and remotely.

Windows nt, service pack 5, service release 2. I have applied sr-2, reinstalled excel, cleaned files and folders. What would you all do next? thanks in advance.

Well, i guess no one likes excel. What I ended up doing was unsharing the file. and creating a copy of the worksheets in the file to a new excel file. Then renamed this new file with name from the old file. Worked like a charm.
