| Do you think there too high?
Some tests seam to have incredibly large fees associated with them. Esspecialy if you compare the fees to that of the ACT and SAT fees. I was surprised at how low the were compared to other IT certs.
I would also want to know if people pay for thier certs out of their own pocket or if the company that they work for pays for it. | |

| I myself had my boss pay for my A+ cert. And all the rest I've paid out of my own pockets.
If a job really likes the work you do and arfe willing to keep you employed for a long duration. They should have the right to pay for your examinations | |

| Most all that I've taken have been about $100, except CompTIA's, but CompTIA's don't have to be renewed every upgrade either.
I've paid for about half the exams on my own, and my companies have treated me to half For the most part I've paid for my study materials. My current employer doesn't pay for anything. | |

| I've paid for all my exams. As far as my thoughts on the costs of exams go, I'll just copy and paste something I posted in the Linux/Unix forum a few day ago.
<snip>I'm actually glad that these exams cost so much. Novell use to let their employees take exams for free. Because of this, a lot of employees would take exams over and over again until they memorized the entire question bank and could in a way braindump their way through these exams. When Novell realized what was going on they discontinued this. My thought is charging a lot for exams discourages this type of behavior.
What would be nice would be if a very small amount were charged the first time you take an exam and a much higher rate were charged after that. That way you get the advantages of both.</snip> | |

| I think that for the amount we have to pay for exams, the certification authorities should provide services like showing track records (took which exams, passed which exams, etc.) which potential employers can see on the Internet. |
