The arrival of grandson Hippo!

To our daughter Joanne and her partner Gary, at 15:24 GMT today (Christmas Eve), a baby boy, weighing in at 8lbs 12oz.

Those of you who have read my reply to a post in the CCNA forum, will know that baby is not very well. He is in the Intensive Baby Care Unit at the moment; his vital signs are very good, but he will be assessed on Friday prior to an operation to relieve a cyst on his brain. From the information we have received from specialists at Sir John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, he has a very good chance. Only time will tell.

Both mother and father are delighted. They haven't yet decided on a name though.

I will post more news as and when. Meanwhile, Grandad and Granny Hippo are going out to celebrate.

Thank the Lord.

Thanks guys; Me and the misses are in floods here. Gotta get dry before we go out. As for Dublin, I check my shift rota for the dates and if I am free, yeah I'll join you all.

Cheers, just off for some proper beer now - real ale you know. The pub's just got some Adnams and Speckled Hen in. Yummy!

Later

You and your loved ones -- especially the latest addition to the Hippo crew -- are in my thoughts and prayers. My son Marc, one of the twins, had to stay in the ICU for 5 days, so I feel for you. I am happy to say that he is now in great shape, and that there is no way to know that he had to stay in the ICU.

I will pray that lil' Hippo will get better soon the way Marc did.

Keep us updated! Lil' Hippo is now one of us by association

After 36 hours, mummy and daddy have decided on a name for grandson hippo. He is to be known as Kyle Stuart. Kyle was the only name they both agreed on, and Stuart after daddy's uncle Stuart, a serving firefighter who died on a shout. Sad, but his memory will live on.

Baby Kyle has tomorrow, an MRI scan and full assessment by the consultants at the hospital. I am back at work tomorrow and for the weekend, so I will post any more news as and when I know any more. (And I can check my rota for the New Year re - Dublin)

Thank you all for your kind comments; it is very much appreciated.

I recommend that you start recording your soothing voice on tape to play for the baby. You know, things like:

"Grandma loves you."
"IRQ for the Floppy Drive is 6."
"USB can support up to 127 devices"
"Bill Gates is the boogie man."

You know..the beginning stuff to get'em started in life=)

Just kidding=) Best wishes and I hope the baby is healthy!

Thank you Chodan.

I now need to get back to a reasonable level of fitness to cope with 'litte one' again so, in the Spring of next year, I am going back to my local Tae Kwon Do school to continue my training. (Under instruction from a 3rd Degree) I shall start from 10th Kup again, because it's been over three years since I last trained.

I wish I could start back.
I had a disk whittled on by a surgeon a few years ago and that meant no more Tae Kwon Do.
I might get back into some limited Hapkido eventually when I get some spare time "yeah right".
I should probably brush up on my hyung "forms" but I'd have to really struggle to remember all of them.
I reached 2nd dan in TKD and HKD at one time but that was many moons ago.

With a grandson it would be cool to reach a level that you could start teaching him when he is old enough.

Aikido is cool.
It has Similar roots as Hapkido
founders of both styles studied under the same Aikijujutsu master at the same time.

I am a first time clicker of the forums and this topic is the reason for coming at all. So this has to be the most popular thread on this dot com and rightfully so; anyone with cute names like Mr and Mrs Hippo are irresistable.
I was also interested in finding out how this dot com program can statistically help me any more then the other resources in passing any Microsoft, Comptia or Cisco technical examinations.
But for now, the only thing that matter is what tugs at the heart strings and I want to send aprayer for the health of your new baby.
Here's a sincere Best of Luck!

Thank you all for the very kind and sincere comments. Baby Kyle is home with his mummy and daddy at the moment whilst they wait for his scan results.

Meanwhile, I took some 'photos of him and would like to post one on this site. The 'photos are 35mm standard, so if I scan one into my computer, how do I paste it into a 'reply' message. I would prefer that rather than to 'attach' it?
