I had read some newspaper recently, some IT jobs were very attractive, but hard to apply.
They require you have five years of Win2000 Server experiences.
Three to Five years of Visual studio.net experience.
And Some senior programmer vacancies they wanted Five years C# experiences, 8-9 years of Java programming on hand experiences.
They really offer good pay, but who can apply!

Win2k began in the late 1999.
C# in 2001 (draft in 2000)
Java in 1995?

I want the job, but how to apply?

Well, this is my own personal job ad--->

As a fast growing company, Morons Inc is just looking for his/her new Helpdesk Network Systems
Administrator-Programmer-Translator.

Required skills:
*12 years hands-on experience with .Net Server.
*Able to work 23 hours a day / 364 days per annum
*Have a proven ability to build complete OSes with the following languages: Perl, C, Visual Basic, Fortran, Logo, SQL+, Bash, Csh, Tk, Java, PHP, UML, HTML, PostGresql.

Must be fluent in the following languages : English, German, Dutch, Spanish, Japanese, Polish, Swedish, Greek, Chinese, and Martian.

The ideal candidate should hold all vendor related certifications and be able to exorcise the bosses daughter (Megan I suppose?).

I have to agree, i am looking for a new job, and quite often see 3-4 yrs experience with w2k.

I think it all boils down to who is writing the add, usually someone who knows very little about microsofts OS and when they came out. although the name windows 2000 does rather give the game away.

Unless you worked with the beta release then you can not have more than two years commercial experience with Windows 2000.

Hah yeah I been seeing those types of ads also. It cracks me up. So I just do what anyone would do and put down 10yrs experince with windows 2k.

You might think, but then talk to the recruiter.

I had a discussion with a recruiter about a similar thing to "3 to 5 years experience with Win2k."

I assured her that I had 4 years with the NT platform and been using Win2k in beta since Feb 1999 (or maybe march...). She was sure that wasn't what they wanted.

When she looked at my resume, she said that she didnt see any real project experience either. I have a project with a USD$40MM budget on my resume. I've got 3 years IT/development PM and about 10 years industrial construction on that resume.

Has anyone seen those adds that ask for experience that would amount to maybe a 25 year distinquished career? And it is hourly contract at USD$24 to $30 per hour in Los Angeles or NY, etc???

If US corporations paid executives for experience in the same proportion, then the execs would make under USD$100,000 and get bonuses of maybe $100.

(if they paid for performance the execs would end up paying the corporations for the priviledge!)

No worries, I'm making a good living and it doesn't matter if IT never recovers. I'm managing industrial permitting projects and the retirement is pretty nice. Much lower budgets and very low stress.

Don't hold your breath on IT, and don't believe more than 10% what the ads or the recruiters say.

i had an email back from an agency, that said bercause it didn't have experience in a banking enviroment,and that was specifically requested in the advert, they would not be forwarding my CV.

therefore the words Industrial Bank of <insert the country> does not constitute 'banking' experience duh!!!!

That is why they are recruiting problem solvers and not problem solving.

Trouble is, doesn't the client think that they are out-sourcing problem solving when they use headhunters?
