| I had ics and LAN with 3 pc. It worked great. Late i decided to install wingate. But it doesn't work properly. DHCP didn't assign ip address for host addapter. Then i uninstall wingate, cause didn't have time to search where is the problem and install ics. But then ics failed. Problem the same: dhcp doesn't assign 192.168.0.1 address. Host addapter gets 169.254.57.154. If i put ip address manually on host addapter and on clients addapters, then LAN works, but client cann't access internet. I'm trying to find any solution in support.microsoft, but i'm still at the same point. I'd appreciate for any help. | |

It cannot assign an address to itself,

| In my situation i have 2 NIC. One is connected to cable modem and second one is connected with switch. First addapter gets ip address from my isp and dhcp should assign ip addapter to second nic. Same with client's nic. | |

| ICS wizard does all that for you,I sugest you remove ICS again reboot, check status of all nic card, confirm internet functionality and the nic it use, reinstall ICS and let wizard do it .
Once I actualy had to remove home nic card right out and start from scratch .

On Win2K that is actually not true. A machine running DHCP server can be configured with a DHCP address itself. In WinNT 4.0, that was not possible...

| With ICS Capn? | |
|
| With ICS, DHCP should be turned off alltogether, as ICS has a built-in DHCP junky thing of its own | |

| Right Capn.
Just play around with enable/disable ICS a couple of times. You may have to (in this process) reboot to properly re-configure the adapter. It seems as if sometimes ICS can get "stuck" (hosed) which in turn whacks the gateway from functioning correctly.
Get a router or set one up...
|
| Silly me. Here I was thinking that ICS and "hosed" were actually perfect synonyms | |
