morning; first post. i have a dell 3800 inspiron that will not load. i think it is the battery or plug in. the one time i did get it to load this is what i found under problem devices. "device-ACPI IRQ holder for PCI IR..." "pnp device id-ACPI\PNPOCOF\00000003" "error code-22".
thanks........tazpage

If you been on the Dell site and found nothing ,give this link a read.

This behavior can occur if you change hardware in your computer and the IRQ holder is no longer required. IRQ holders for PCI steering are listed with error code 22 when they are not in use. Although IRQ holders for PCI steering that are not in use are not displayed in Device Manager, the System Information tool displays them.
Good Luck

This may lead to other links.???

One lousy reply better than none.

ACPI is the power management

Advanced Configuration and Power Interface

so check in the BIOS and see if you can change any settings for that

thanks for reply: i am not able to get the laptop to come on. i press the on button and green lights come on for a moment and turn off again. i am thinking that maybe it is the power cord and now the battery is low and so the machine cuts off as i think it does if power is low? how can i check the power cord and/or battery. once back on i will check the bio for changes there. i have not made any changes in hardware other than to change from the dvd to disk but that was two or three days before the trouble.

thanks, tazpage@aol.com

Checking your AC adapter can be done with a multimeter set to DC volts ,voltages varies but should be around 12 to 15 volts DC ,that information is printed on the adapter itself and also show +/- of the plug. Also check the 115 volts AC from cord ,it is removable from the adapter.

Your battery could be dead from lack of AC to DC from adapter and only need recharge.

Remove the battery and it should be
1 Test button
2 Charge-level indicator ,you should of receive warning on status.

Dell website should have info on your model .
