| Punching PC Gets Two Months
A policeman caught on camera kicking and punching a man he was trying to arrest has been sentenced to two months in prison. But Pc Keith Empsall walked free from the court on bail pending an appeal.Empsall, 42, had been called to Christopher Wilson's flat in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, to deal with an incident in which a car was smashed with a baseball bat by another man.
He assaulted Mr Wilson after he refused to let him inside. The incident, in June last year, was filmed by a student across the road.
Empsall was convicted of common assault last month following a three-day trial. He appeared for sentence at Leeds Magistrates Court.
Empsall is in his 24th year of service with West Yorkshire Police. He had no previous convictions or disciplinary matters against his name. | |
