Auto resizing of avatars

| If you remember me talking about auto resizing of avatars, I have just added this feature.
I noticed that a lot of users are having difficulties making their avatar to be small enough.
Now you can upload a JPEG or GIF image of any size to be used as your avatar and if it's bigger than 80x80 pixels, it will be automatically resized to be not larger than 80x80
Now you can upload any photos taken with your digiral camera or any other cool picture you may have.
For example, I uploaded my new avatar and you see that it's small enough, but here is it's original size:

I have also reduced the minimum number of posts required to upload the avatar from 20 to just 5
Have fun! | |

| Thanks Webmaster. This automatic resizing feature will be a boon for those who don't have image editing programs. Your new picture makes me wish it was a lazy, Sunday afternoon and out on the docks fishing. | |

| I hope it helps people to add avatars to their profile
In case you don't know how to do it: click on Profile icon (above the banner), then on "Edit options", then scroll to the bottom and you'll see option to upload or change avatars.
From there you will be able to upload the picture from your hard drive. Picture must be in .jpg or .gif format. PNG is also supported, but the auto resize is currently not available for PNG format, I'm working on it.

| Can you resize me to fit into that picture source and animate it. Boy I would love to see that place for real for about a week. | |

| another picture of the lake:
This is the lake in our community where I live in Pennsylvania. It's private, there is a good fishing and non-motor boats are allowed, swimming is not allowed.

| By the way, I added the last attached picture to test the auto-resize of attachements feature.
Now images of any size can be attached and if the image is wider than 300 pixels, it will be re-sized to 300 pix wide, the height is re-sided propotionatly.

| Cool - 'cuz when I attached mine (which is of a lake in New Hampshire) I had to play around with the size a bit.
Thanks again! | |

| Well, now you don't have to worry about the image size anymore.
This was so easy to add, I wonder why I have not done it before, I knew about this free utiliry for almost a year now, just never used it before.

| Nice feature. Saves a lot of time resizing your picture so that it's big enough to be clear/small enought to be posted.
Nice work! | |

| Just for fun, I tried one and it cut off the bottom of the pic. That was with a GIF.
Let me try a JPEG | |

| Works with JPEGS, not with GIFs? | |

| I see how it cut off your gif, but it does work with GIFS, otherwise it would not have processed the first half of it. I tried uploading the Avatar in GIF and it worked fine. I honestly don't know why it cut off your attached file, but maybe there was some network connection problem and only half of the image got uploaded.
Anyway, works well for uploading avatars, both from the local hard drive and from the URL on the web.
Enjoy and let's see more members use avatars. |
