| Does anyone know of a vendor that sells relatively small quantities of LARGE static bags? Neither computer stores nor office supply places seem to carry these. I've found some manufacturers, but they want to sell 500 or 1000 units, and I need about 10 to ship some computers and monitors to another location.
CLARIFICATION: I need non-amine polythene anti-static bags, about 24" x 36". | |

| You dont' need to put the monitor or the computer case in the static bag unless you're talking about motherboards,pci cards,expose pcb you need to put them in anti static bag. | |

| Been there -- those styrofoam peanuts generate a LOT of static electricity and little pieces break off and float into all the vents.
I figured I'd ball up a bunch of kraft paper and pack the box with that as a last resort, but that doesn't provide much protection for a 21" monitor, and your standard polyethylene bag generates a lot of static on it's own. I'm shipping $8k worth of equipment... I'd rather not have it show up damaged and have them come looking for ME  | |

| If you just put the actual box 7/or minitor in a big garbage bag, it will keep the peanuts out and the plastic "box" will protect the components from any ESD. Done this many times & works fine. Besides, this is pretty much how manufacturers ship them to you. | |

| The manufacturers use a (usually pink) static bag which isn't like the grey-silvery ones you see RAM in. I've seen these for sale rather cheaply, but in lots of 1000... I don't need anywhere near that many! | |

| Your best solution then is go to a computer show and buy from those vendors.

| You might have to bite the buck on this one, buy the 1000 bags, then sell the ones you don't use on eBay...there might be someone just like you looking for xx# of bags...you might even turn a profit | |

I bet a computer show is the right place to go, as much as I hate going to those.
Well, now I have to wait for more paperwork and CFO approval to transfer inventory, so maybe once they decide it's useful to have the equipment where we need it instead of collecting dust I'll revisit the issue. They don't have to be new, just functional, so I wonder if I could get a local Mom&Pop shop to save me some used bags when they unpack equipment and sell them to me for an inflated price...
