| A Chat room in theory might seem like a good idea BUT
1) There wouldn't be a log/record of good ideas topics that are discussed
2) We already seem to respond in near real-time.... With in a day..
3) I could just imagine the boards getting s.hitty.. it would be like AOL....

| Some of you are sounding pretty narrow minded....
I think your missing the point,
it's a room for us....
for us to meet each other and talk and make new friends....and maybe even learn something from one another.
The regular forum is great
but a room for use to chat real time would be fun and a good place to hang out in between studying......
It's for the people who are registred users for this forum, and they all seem pretty cool to me 
I dont'think it will be AOL.....the Forum is not like AOL is it?? So why would the chat room be?

| This had been discussed several months ago as well. One major concern becomes the location of all the users. In order for a chat room to be effective for all users everyone has to be there. The people needed to answer other people's questions may not be on at the time you ask. In this format, as soon as people get on, the question is answered. All questions I have asked have been answered fairly quickly. Also, during the day, many that are working cannot chat because of a security violation or just protocol of their job. Many of those users may also be vital to people's questions

| Chat rooms work well on AOL because they have like 100 million users.
We dont have 100 million users on our site and therefore the chat room will not be active.
Who wants to set up some sort of chat room with live video?
The tecnology is out there and all you need is a cheap live cam to use it.
Anyone knows about such services?
I remember about 3 years ago I was playing with I-phone, and they had servers setup for live video chat. At that time is was only on-on-one. I am pretty sure that by now someone have figured out a way to have multi-user video chat. | |

| I think the forum is great! We don't need a chat room to post our questions, and it may be bad for some people, since they may get addictive to the chat-room and they will forget that they have some studying to do.
I am against the chatroom for right now.
As the webmaster said, the chatroom may not be active since we don't have "100 million" members. Something like that will be kept under consideration for the near future!

| The yahoo messenger has some pretty cool video chat capabilities. More than one user can be connected to your cam at one time. It is pretty cool, but the perverts outnumber everyone else in that place. If someone had the capability to set up a bot to keep a room open it could be fun to set up a room and see who shows up from here. | |

| I like this format. I wouldn't use a chat room, I'd just get left behind by those with fast connections and in the end feel left out. But hey, don't let me stop you - I just wouldn't be there, I find them a bit unfriendly.
(That may be because I'm an old git though, and a geek, and not very witty, and a bit slow, and I don't get to the point, and I tend to waffle on, and I usually get jokes a bit late - I don't get out much.)
