Its also wireless which gives you more flexibility.

| It really depends what certifications you want to achieve. If you are after Cisco certifications, then of cause you should get Cisco Catalyst switch. I would recemmend 2924
The reason is that 1900 series is getting outdated and 3500 series is too expensive.
You can play with 2924 switch and then sell it on ebay when you don't need it anymore. The 1900 will be hard to sell.

| glatour,
Were you looking for a high tech CISCO switch or just an ordinary switch ??
If you are looking for a cisco swith, then read Webmaster's post.

As Webmaster said if u are on the Cisco track. It will be a good idea to get a router from Cisco ...
U make your final decision.. Have fun

| Webmaster is correct.
The Cisco 2924 WS-C2924C-XL-EN (isnt that sick I have the model number memorized) is an excellent access-layer switch and would be great for a home network. Especially if you are working on Cisco certifications. If you want to add Gigabit Up-link capability, go with a 3500 series switch. I will be purchasing a 3524-XL-EN switch within the next few months. |
