| Everyone has an idea.. a businness venture.. something that they think could be something great and could make them good money, but it never materializes, because of fear or lack of funds. What is yours? What is the idea, whether it be computer oriented or not, whether it's the starting of some company, or an invention, or even a slogan.. | |

| Certification School
After I get my degree, I might open up a cert school, man ppl pay up 5000 for a only a 2 month course like ccna. There isn't that many schools here which teach you IT skills, so I could probably get in easily. And hopefully make some real good cash.
I would hire ppl via the net or local newspapers, they could be the teachers since I really dont like to teach
I know most of you will have tons of negative feedback on this "idea" but, I dont really care

| Hey Azam,
I think that's a great idea.
But then again it depends on your area. For example, I have heard that in the Atlanta area almost everyone that works in the IT field it's opening their own schools..
You said that there isn't too many schools there. Cool, go ahead and give it a try!
By the way, in which state do you live?

| i'm going to start a refugee camp for out-of-work IT ppl and recruit the employed IT folk to join this utopian nation. it will be in the mountains, far away from users and other "normal" people. we will have enormous solar and hydro generators. we will infiltrate corporate america, the offices, the homes and commandeer the computers they don't deserve (nor know how to support) and build a massive cluster! we will live off of melted snow and pine nuts... and we will play DOOM* all the rest of our lives!
*and all other first-person-shooters and of course, Tony Hawk Pro Skater!

| Definitly a training school. Will be a millionarie sooner than we will thought..
Too many people want to learn computer and certification, but they don't understand the concept behind...
And believed it or not, many new mid-career change people do spend few $1000 dollars on some certifciation while we spend only $200.

| I'm thinking of doing something with FOIP (fax over IP).
Opening a training school doesn't sound like a bad idea. I'm sure they make tons of $$$.

If you've ever heard of VOIP (voice over IP) it's very simular to that. Both involve using the Internet or some other IP-based WAN to bypass long distance toll charges. There are a lot of latency isues with VOIP that wouldn't be an issue with FOIP since it wouldn't need to be in real time.

| Well, a few years ago, while living in Phoenix, myself and a friend came up with an idea to form a company called, "Basement Area Networking." The idea was to run this business concurrently to our present jobs until we could support ourselves with it. Basically, we were going to wire new home developments. We signed on volunteers with the hope of making it someday. We had a 35-page business plan, an accountant, and the laborers to wire the homes. We couldn't raise enough capital to wire more than 4 homes in one development (the homeowners agreed to be guinea pigs for free networks). Then my friends' Uncle comes up with the very same idea. Hmm...imagine that! Had connections with money, and started his company. We went to court, but didn't have the money to keep paying a lawyer, so we backed out.
I'm hoping to start my own consulting business in another two years or so, charge $45-65 an hour and be happy. My only problem is figuring how to take time off!
