Mouse cursor slows down after disconnected from internet!

| Hello everyone,
I have a very weird problem going on.I finally thought of posting it, because I guess at least one of you here in the forum may have had it before.
Every time I get off the internet, my mouse slows down. The mouse cursor (pointer) takes its time to move around the screen so patience is the most important thing. I think I am getting well trained on that!
When I get connected again, the mouse goes to its normal state. Have any of you come accross this problem before?
I would appreciate your help.
Thanks,
XtremeFighter

| Weird....Maybe try reinstalling your mouse drivers and see what that does. | |

| Yep, that is a weird one.
If you are using a Microsoft mouse, try updating to the latest version of IntelliPoint 3.2. Do the same if you are using a Logitech mouse. The generic mouse drivers in Windows work for only so long without any noticeable problems.
If that doesn't work, it might not be a mouse problem. Make sure that you do not have anything running the background that could slow the mouse down when you close your browser. Clear your cache.
Good luck

| Ya, very weird problem....
Check to see if Active Desktop is running (checked). If so, uncheck it.
I'm assuming it's a PS/2 mouse. Have you tried attaching a serial mouse to the system? Does the problem still happen after doing this?
Bobby's suggestion is a good one to checkout and try as well. Also, I'd uninstall any prior version of mouse software before installing the newer version (if that's the route you choose).
Good luck. | |

| I have a logitech wheel mouse USB.
I will try updating the drivers, but I don't think that's the case because I bought the mouse just a couple of months ago.
I think the mouse driver conflicts with another device in windows ME!
Do you think the problem may have to do with the modem? Because 1 sec after I get disconnected then it slows down, (you could see the mouse track accross the screen) that's how slow the mouse goes.
Thanks,

| Greetings all,
after so long im back.well sorry guys i was stuck up with a project.hey Xtreme even i have the same prob. Its going to be almost a year i bought the comp.well earlier i had 98 as my os,but after installing ME i started getting probs.so u can relax n stop bothering about modem giving probs coz i dont have a modem, still i get the same prob.but in my case the mouse is too slow sometimes it becomes fast again suddenly slow.i tried even reinstalling mouse drivers, but no use.so its either way that ME or mouse is giving prob. Now im getting a new mouse hope it works otherwise i think fault is with ME.plus when i try installing oracle it doesnt get installed.it hangs up everytime i try to install oracle.ME is worst product microsoft has come out with i think.not compatible with oracle or mouse probs.im sure the no of users having ME must be stuck up with same prob.
P.S:comments or suggestions welcome n pls excuse if i typed somewhere senseless things.

I don't think it can be a conflict with your modem because the problem only occurs after you disconnect from the internet. If it was a conflict, I would think that the problem would only occur when the modem was in use.
I think a good place to start would be looking at drivers. I know you just got the mouse a couple of months ago, but that doesn't mean that the drivers can't be corrupted.
Also - have you installed the updates for Windows ME?

| This sounds realy weird. My best guess is that when you disconnect from the Internet some program freezes up, causing this problem. Try reinstalling the modem, TCP/IP and any ISP software you have. | |

| When you disconnect, is it simultaneous with your browser shutting down? | |

| What is the speed of your PC/workstation, RAM and OS?
It happen to me when I was using Win98, I believed it the memory control and few mirror thing about the how the OS handle.
Nothing wrong with any hardware. Just a OS cannot handle some over stack memory and the CPU not able to process it in time, or slicing....!
