Silly question about Brain Dumps.

| Why would anyone in their right mind, who has taken the time to study and practice for a test, post the answers on the 'net?
Why would they want to make it easier for some geek to scam and cheat their way way to a certification when all it would do is demean the certification and demean themselves?
My view is that if you need to study a braindump, you don't know the product.
If I'm ever in a position to hire someone, and I found out that he or she used braindumps to study, i promise they'll get slam dunked!!

| Have you ever taken the time to actually look at a braindump??? Not all of the dumps are complete regurgitation of the exam. Some just hit on key points to beware of or to alert us to what they perceive as "tricky" questions.
Now, I don't want to start an online banter about this as it has been hashed out on several boards, time and time again.
But here is how I view/use a dump site. FIRST I study hard on my own and take all the practice exams I can get my hands on. When I think I've got a good grasp I will seek out some braindumps and comb through them for errors. They all have them! When I can find them in the dumps then I know I am ready for the exam. Not because I got the answers from a dump, but because I understood the material enough to spot the problems.
Now, to throw another wrench into the engine... Has it ever occurred to anyone that the people who post the dumps and say they are just trying to help us all out could be evil Just think, many of the dumps that you find have wrong answers. Is that on purpose? Would this be an easy way to give false hope to all those you might be competing for a job with? And if you do lose a job to someone who simply memorized dumps and took tests, how long do you suppose it would be before that person is looking for work again?
These are just some random thoughts. Let the flaming begin (as I know this is a hot spot for many).
Now back to studying...

| A silly question indeed . . . as long as people can cheat, they will. If M$ and Novell had any sense about them, they would require lab exams like the RHCE. there is no cheating your way through them. And Pavlov . . . by posting dumps, you are violating the agreement that you signed when you took the test. You might argue that that isn't cheating, but the certification authorities generally do not view it that way and have recently began taking action against those who do so. | |

| I'm sorry, but I don't agree with the generalization of a "braindump" meaning something illegal or wrong.
Some braindumps just talk about what that person used to prepare for the exam, and some of the subject material that was covered on the exam they took. (I'm not talking about actual exam questions being contained in these types of "braindumps"). Are you saying that these types of "braindumps" are a violation of the NDA as well?

| Randy - nowhere in my post did I mention or imply that I have ever posted a braindump. For clarification I simply stated that I have in the past used them to boost my confidence in spotting the bogus answers that many provide.
BTW, some of the questions that have been posted in many of these forums asking for help have been taken from dumps.
On another note... Is using Transcenders to prepare for an exam cheating? I ask since many of my MCP exam questions were word for word from the Transcender that I used. Are they violating any laws? Or is that okay because you $pay$ for the questions?
Just curious... | |

| When I use the term "braindump" it does not mean test tips, but test questions that the testee can remember. And from what I can tell, that is what most people think that they are. If you used them, you were still using resources that the testing agencies did not approve of. In some cases they may be a help, but you are still using illegal aids. As for the practice test like transcenders and so on, they are pretty close to being braindumps as well. The big difference is more of motivation than of content, I guess. The idea with tools like the test engones that you get with textbooks is to see if you have a reasonable grasp of the material, but not to give verbatim answers that were copied from the tests. In my experience, the practice tests that come with the better aids are usually much harder than the exams themselves to give you a better chance of passing. For those of you that approve of cheating, however, I ask you this: would you go to a doctor who "braindumped" his/her way through med school? | |

| I guess my point in my first post on this thread is this.
If your boss hires a "paper certified" person, it won't take long for the ignorance to shine. People who certify strictly by memorizing won't pass the real world test of keeping a job.
In real life they don't give you multiple choice answers. I've had the pleasure of working with some folks who got certified this way, got the job in the chair beside me, and were gone within 3 months.
Braindump threads are always good to light the fires

True, but this wastes the time and money of employers and in the end just ends up hurting the rest of us. I know some employers who don't care much for certifications for that very reason . . . they have had too many experiences with paper engineers, and would prefer not to deal with them because they are too easy to cheat your way through. That's why certs like CCIE and RHCE hold so much weight . . . you simply can't cheat your way through lab exams like you can with an ordinary test.

| When u become a boss and need to hire a experienced worker?
U will see the difficulty to hire a person with truth knowledge not just a piece of paper.

| I actually managed a help desk for a major land development company out here in Southern California. The way I weeded out the paper certs was by asking them real life problem scenarios. The kind of questions that only life experience can teach you. I won't post the questions, so don't ask. Some secrets I must keep to myself to continue being a good manager. Usually they will give themselves away in the interview. Only a few a savvy enough to get past the interview and get the job offer. Those are the ones that cost the company $$$. I hired someone who had basic certifications and no work experience because when I asked them scenario questions, they were honest when they didn't know and showed logical thinking in how they might approach the problem. Most importantly, they weren't afraid to say "I don't know" vs. a bull-crap answer just throwing out acronyms and buzz words. | |

| greetings,
hey itsrite that these braindumps should be removed coz they r cheatsheets.my one friend he got thru a company coz he got few questions put by a guy from the company. and he got less marks in college than others.i had to struggle for 1 yr to get job.but after 6 months he was kicked out coz he was not efficient for the company.but it is sad to see such ppl getting jobs or marks easily n we have to struggle.sometimes i think is it really worth studying so much when these guys get watever they want easily.
i know u guys must be thinking that why i'm saying to remove braindump coz i didnt get job very quickly or so.or if i had also used braindump i would have told not to remove braindump.but from my experience its better to remove it, coz then we know the real quality of the person.so if any of u trying to get braindumps pls dont as from other thread n this u know now that u'll not stand for long.better to learn on own n prove ur skills.it may take time but later ur going to benefit from it,as i'm now.im happy that though poor at studies was able to prove my quality n my skills without the help of braindump.so down with braindump.
