can anyone give me the best method of instaling win 2000 and win 98se on the same system,many thanks

Well, it is much easier if you install win98 first, than pop in win2k. That way you don't have to mess with the nt bootloader. Some people install on different partitions but I keep mine on c:

You prob know win98 can't read nfts so your best bet is fat32 if you want to share data.

Other than that it's not diffcult as everything is pretty much automated.

make 2 partitions using "Fdisk", C and D. Then, restart the machine with your computer booting into the CD-Rom (having the win98 cd in the cd-rom). Then 98 will be installed onto C leaving you to later install Win2k on D !!

Sounds simple, but its tricky if you don't do it right

Just an added note:

To make a machine dual bootable that already has Windows 2000 on it, you don't have to format your HDD. When you decide you would like to add a Win9x client or an NT client for dual OS purposes, you can still make it dual bootable by after installing your additional OS (ie WIN9x, or NT), boot from the Windows 2000 CD-ROM and select "REPAIR". This is a fail safe in case you don't want to do a Format C on your existing copy of Windows 2000.
