| Hi ppl,
How do you or can you share applications like word etc.. between win98 and win2000 on a dual boot machine.
Do you have to set up some sort of share applications folder thru win2000 or something ?
I installed office97 onto the win2000 partition and have tried to use these applications from the win98 partition and it keeps showing that there is some .dll or other, missing or corrupt, and that the application may not work correctly, however, it then continues to load.
Im new to the win2000 and dual boot so im not sure on what to do when installing these programs and how to share them between partitions.
(BTW both partitions are the same FAT32)
Thanks in Advance.

| Hi mark, yeah I have a dual boot computer...
3 partitions, C=win98, D=NT4, E=NT5
When I was studying for my nt4 cert, I got the impression that I would have to install every single one of my programs individually onto each partition so that they would work for each OS. It seems that each OS writes different data into the Registry about the same program, mainly because of drivers I think. But anyway, most of my programs work fine on every OS, even some really big computer games work perfect on each OS even though i only installed it once !!!!!
It's just some programs need specific drivers for specific OS's, and that's when they won't work on a dual boot system

| Ando,
Question, do you use System Commander or any other software to dual-boot?
|
| Hi chas,
no, I don't use any 3rd party software for dual-booting !
BTW, is System commander some dual-booting program supporter ?
|
| Ando,
Yes it is. The reason I asked is because many people have told me they have problems with their system unless they use some 3rd party software for dual booting. Soon I will off on a shopping spree for my home lab and will end up making my main PC dual bootable with Win 2000 and Unix for possible use as a server.
|
| that sounds great m8, but I don't know if you'll be able to use programs on unix if they were installed in windows ? I don't have a clue what Unix is like !! lol | |
|
| With Unix you will have to have a 3rd party duel booter. If it was another Microsoft OS then you wouldn't have a problem. | |
|
| Unix is very cool indeed, Ando. You don't really need third party tools, lilo will often do the trick, but Partition Magic is a lot more flexible. | |

| I agree with Randy........Partition Magic is a great program to work with. |
