Here is the scenario:

Ethernet-port is up but line protocol is down.
I changed the keepalive on the Eport to off and the line protocol comes up.
Question...what is the default setting on the Eport as far as keepalive is concerned. It seems to me that it should be off since I think that keepalive usually applies to serial links (LMI) and Ethernet uses Carrier sense function. What I am trying too ask is what is keepalive used for on a LAN.
