Need help on Unattended Installation !
|
|
|
| I want do an unnattended installation of windows 2000. But for the life of me, I can't figure out where to go to start an unnattended installation wizard !! (making a unattended installation floppy)
I have windows 2000 up on another computer, but i cannot find a wizard ?
I don't really want to make my own "unnattend.txt" because I'm not that confident of getting it right !!
Can someone help ! | |

| Hi Ando,
The Setup Manager (setupmgr.exe) is located in the /support/tools/deploy.cab file on the Windows 2000 Professional CD. you'll need to extract this from the cab file to your hard drive.
This is the utility you would use to go through a "wizard" type creation of an unattend.txt file. I would also read the readme.txt and unattend.doc files located in the deploy.cab file as well. They are good reads with the unattend.doc file having some sample unattend.txt file layouts as well.
Other than that, you've got to create it manually.
Hope this Helps! | |

| Hi spid !!
thanks for the reply !
I managed to get a loan of "windows 2000 resource kit" !! and on it was that program you were talking about, the setupmgr program !! It worked a treat !!
Also, on the resource kit cd, i found a couple of cool programs like "remote shutdown" hehehehehehe I'll be having fun next week in college !!!
|
| Alright! Glad I could help!
Oh ya, with remote shutdown you can really mess with people. It's fun
When I was taking the MOC for 70-068 last year, they had the Resource Kit for NT installed on the systems, there was this one guy in the class that thought he was "Joe Super Computer Guy", thought he knew everything, drove us nuts. So I said to my lab partner, "Watch this, if this guy doesn't shut his yap, I'm gonna shut down his system remotely." Whammo, the guy had no idea what happened. The whole class broke out laughing. Well....it was just too much fun not to do
Ya I got the standard lecture at lunch break from the MCT about disrupting the class, etc... but even he got a kick out of it.
|
| hahahah !!
thats exactly the same situation in my class ALL last week !!
There is this bloke in my class that thinks he knows everything about terminal services and all of last week he was shutting down everyones computer !!
By the time I figured out how to block him from shutting down my computer, he had also figured out how to block TS clients, and I was'nt able to get revenge !
So, this is why I am happy I was able to get my hands on this shutdown program !!!!
MUAHHHAHAHAHAH |
