Best way to study?

| I'd like some pointers as to the most efficient techniques for studying. I have started on the CCDA and want to maximise my study time. Usually i just re-read my study guides until it sinks in but is this best way of going around it? Should I be taking notes during each chapter.
Any help you can offer would be great. | |

| I wrote a reply to someone about this not too long ago. The thread exists so you can check it out at:

Also since you're working on the CCDA you should post in that forum. We've been slowly getting it to have more traffic lately. The more folks post the more information is exchanged.

| I create my own practice exams - it's such a great way to ram bits of info into the head.

| I use two techniques.
First, I get one easy book (Exam Cram or Dummies), and one hard book (Sybex, Osborne, Cisco, etc.). The easy book is for the bus, the bathtub, just carrying around in case I get a few minutes, or for easy reading when the hard book is burning me out. I always read the easy book cover to cover. The hard book is for reference. I read most of it, but not always.
Second, I get at least two practice tests. Most of these are actually several small quizzes. I build a spreadsheet of each test and track scores by percentage. Each day, I retake the tests with the lowest scores. WhenI hit 90% on all tests, I schedule the exam for about a week away. The I cram until I have 95% on all the tests before going for the real test. |
