| Which would/did you take first and why? A+ or Net+
I'm currently studying for both at about the same rate. I'm just wondering which of these two tests you would or did take first and why. Are there any benefits either monetary or knowledge wise to taking one before the other?
I know that the recommendations for Network+ suggest that you have an A+ first but that it isn't required.
Thanks,
PH

| Depends on your own knowledge base. If you have a clear understanding of computers work at the hardware level and basic OS, then you might not need to study for the A+. However, if you are new to this arena or have a low level of knowledge about computers then doing A+ first makes good sense. I did the A+ first, even taking a course and reading/studying 5 different text books - and I've been working on computers for almost 10 years, I just wanted to firmly entrench my knowledge and fill on any gaps that I might have had. I did learn a few things in the process and my exams went off with no problems, I'd say that after doing 3 sets of CompTIA exams that the way I did it was most beneficial to me. The A+ will give you solid foundation upon which to build for future certifications.
As far as monetary rewards, well if you are already working in an IT type field of some sort then getting the A+ cert might help you in attaining a raise in salary or even some other kind of perk.
Which ever way you decide to proceed, good luck!
