Author Printer Devices and Printers

I want to make sure I have something correct. The Printer Device is the Physical Printer and the Printers are the software. Now if you have 2 floors that use the same printer you would want to set up 2 printers for that 1 printer device. So In the situation that 1 floor can only print to that printer at a certain time and the other floor can at an other. This is how you can do it?

Don't worry I am working towards it. :

Yup, sounds like you've got the basic idea.

The print device, in Microsoft terms, is the physical piece of equipment that produces printed documents, etc...

The printer, in Microsoft terms, is the software interface between the O.S. and the print device. It defines the port(s) through which print jobs get routed.

So for your situation, you would configure 2 seperate printers with the proper time restrictions for the single print device in question.

Hope this Helps!
