What kind of events are you trying to track? What OS are you using?
What kind of equipment do you want to track?

Basically something like APC's Powerchute + (power outage, abends, etc.) We run Novell Netware 5.0 on most of our servers. Compaq Proliant 1600s. Again, thanks.

How about rconsole? You can manage those utilities from rconsole. If this doesn't answer your question or if you need more info you can most likely get it from the CNA/CNE forum.

good luck,
Bernie

I have all Compaq servers and a few Novell servers and a ton of NT servers. I use the Insight Manager software on the smartstart cd's. It uses SMTP to monitor my servers and page me if there are any problems. It is a little difficult to setup on the Novell server but works great. I can tell you the temperature of my CPU's, memory config, scsi errors, NIC errors, ect for any compaq server with this loaded. If a NT server blue screens it will log it and you can come in later and find out what happened.

You can retro fit servers with the Insight manager if you didn't set it up when you built the server. Compaq has some computer based training on their web site to show you how to set it up and use it. I can now tell within a few minutes when a server has gone down and why without looking at the server. I had a failing Novell server that Insight was constantly telling me when it was down and why.
