I want to know how to backup and restore the mail and address book from outlook express 5.0?

And if I want to restore them from the old PC running win98 to XP, how can I do that?

hi,
I know for exporting the address book inside Outlook Express is quite easy.
Go to File, Export, Address Book and then you can choose to export in .csv, hence when you need to import back, go to FIle, Import, Address Book...

Not really sure on how to export all the messages, since it prompted me to export to the Microsoft OutLook!.

hope this helps

In win98 OE data is in c:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook Express.

Save the data within the folder. Create a new OE account, than copy the old data and paste over the data in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{xyz}\Microsof
t\Outlook Express for win 2k/xp

Hi,
To Switch from Microsoft Outlook Express.

If Microsoft Outlook detects Microsoft Outlook Express on your computer during setup, you will be given the option to import Outlook Express e-mail messages, address books, and settings into Outlook.
-----------------------------------------
If you have already set up Outlook and did not select this option during setup, perform the following steps:

To import Outlook Express e-mail account information

On the File menu, click Import and Export.

In the Import and Export Wizard, click Import Internet Mail Account Settings, and then click Next.

Follow the rest of the instructions in the wizard.
