Something to pick up on your way to MCSE, I reckon.

MCSA is to MCSE as CNA is to CNE.

It will work well for me in my current work environment. We are an entirely a Novell server shop, so MCSE is a bit overkill for me as I will get no hands-on save for coursework. However, the MCSA will give me a knowledge to help me at the Desktop OS level, and bridge some skills over to new job opportunities when the economy picks up.

For most a CNA will have as much value as "certified Nurses Assistant"

As a consultant, it means that I am familiar with how the operating systems and networking sytems are laid out and work. It gives you a background to troubleshoot and make adjustments (if necessary). In my position, you don't always get to go in and implement a new system, you may be integrating with an existing system. It's good to know what you're up against when creating apps, designing a database, and/or just need to tweak things. Besides that, I'm only 2 test from it anyways, why not get it?

If this certification is so useless, then why is everyone talking about it. The point is any certification can be useless, its what you put into it that makes it worth something. Just because your certified does not mean you are going to get a job, and that goes for any certification. If your CCIE and you apply to a company that has a small network and doesnt use alot of routers or any at all, do you think you will get the job? Most people starting out think "I will get certified and make alot of money." Well this is not true. Its not the certification that will get you the job, It's you who will get you the job. You along with your experience and then maybe the certification will help you to obtain that job. MCSA, Im getting it. Its only as useless as you want it to be.......

Hi PCWizzard, i agree with u. But IT training institutes r giving the notion oposite to whatever u said. And its time to relize the fact...

The MCSA will allow a cost of ownership advantage for Microsoft. Why would a businness, if they have an existing network, pay for an MCSE when they can hire an administrator (MCSA) for less?

Paying less for administration will make Microsoft products not only appealing, but compelling to own.

Watch for Microsoft to start giving incentives to MCSA's.
