| I go to support.microsoft.com and I usually just type the event id and nothing else.
Like Event ID 1002 - I would only type 1002 with " " around it to narrow search to only. Or I go to a big search engine and type it "event Id 1002". Dogpile and google seem to get the most results.

The best way that I've found for getting info on event IDs is usually doing what exar said. Google can be usefull too depending on the circumstances (ie Microsoft's docs don't document Windows/Samba communication problems too well, but some of the mailing list archives out there do). |
