Hey All...

I need some solutions. first how do i get rid of the option 'its safe to shut down ur computer" in win2k server. I mean i don't want to push the power button after i shut down from the start menu.

There are some backups i have to run in the night. They take around 3hrs. Is there any way thru which i can set a time and do auto shutdown.

Akhan,

I think the shutdown option depends on your BIOS. If its a fairly new MB/BIOS, it should be able to turn the computer off from a shutdown in Win2k. I believe your MB/BIOS has to support ACPI, so check the MB manufacturer's site to see if there is a new BIOS release that supports this.

I believe there is a command in the NT Resource Kit, shutdown.exe, that will allow you to schedule a time for your machine to shutdown, but I don't know if you can set it to trigger after your backup is complete. You may just have to set it to shutdown at some time after you know the backup will have finished.
